The Mayan calendar predicts that the end will be December 21, 2012. The end of what, I don't know.
Anyone familiar with the calendar?
I found a video collection on this topic at youtube. Parts 2-6 can be found in the related video section.

That's the last day UPS will guarantee Christmas delivery. After that day, it's all over for late shoppers.

Nostradamus and others have also pinned that date as the end. The hilarious thing is, the calendar we use is off by 4 years at least, so it's already 2012

Oh no! Supposedly some cosmic event is supposed to happen.
edit: How do you know they didn't take that into consideration?

Truth be told the Maya celebrated the ends of their calendar periods with huge parties. The longer the period the bigger the party. This is the biggest of all the Mayan calendar periods (well the Maya do have one that is best suited for measuring geologic time but we can ignore that one for the next few tens of thousands of years) so what it means is we should be throwing some serious parties that night.
And any interpretation of the Mayan calendar that includes end of the world is pure bollocks.

It doesn't predict anything. The end of the Mayan Long Count is just the end of the Long Count, just like December 31 is the end of the gregorian year.
What comes after December 31? January 1 of a new year, just as the last day of the Long Count will be followed by the first day of another Long Count.

do you think it a coincidence all of this financial mess is hitting us in 2012?
Won't we be electing our next President then too?

Supposedly, according to the internet lunatics, the end of the Mayan calender spells the end of an 'age' and some believe that a giant asteroid will take us all out at that time. Supposedly there are M$ and Google Earth coordinates that are being censored because 'the powers that be' don't want people to panic.
there is a weave of conspiracies that tie in the Mayan calender, area 51, cave paintings, etc etc...basically all 'mysteries' of the earth into one giant joke. Quite funny actually.

They can't wait that long, they need your money now!
The end is closing in on us.
Earthquakes on the left coast, frankenstorm on the right. Asteroid in Nebraska should round things out nicely.
