help on audio purchase

Does anybody have any suggestions on a serviceable and inexpensive cd player/radio combo? My wife's bookshelf system that she has at her school crapped out, so we need a replacement. Basic system would be fine, bells and whistles not so important such as mp3 capability or docking ports. She basically plays regular cds and the radio. This one looks interesting, but I hate to buy something like this without hearing it or having someone recommend it.

I found a Panny 5 disc unit on eBay for ~$70 when our first was hatched ~5 years ago that sounds great and is still ticking after ~6 years (refurb unit) despite two sets of little fingers touching and the wife abusing it. :) I'll get the model # later once the young one is done napping.

EDIT: SA-PM11...you won't find the same model now, but something similar should be just as good.

I picked up a JVC FSGD7 (http://support.jvc.com/consumer/product.jsp?modelId=MODL027412&pathId=16&page=1&archive=true) on sale for dirt cheap. A bookshelf unit that can fill a room up or be put on the patio on occasion. It was around $27.00, so I just grabbed it, hoping that it worked. Costs less than a beer-run.

It suits that purpose, I suppose. It was discounted a LOT. It also boasts 90 W out, at a slim ten percent THD!!:laugh:

For your needs, I would think that any name-brand bookshelf would fit the bill, providing that it can fill the room with enough sound. The one you posted may not have the nads to do that, though. (5W/channel)
