I WOULD love to see modern, carbon fiber cars with no wings at the top level of open wheel. The late '60's F1 cars were the best looking open wheelers ever.

The Formula Fords are my favorite open wheelers, but they don't have near the power of a late '60's F1.

A current non-winged 1600cc Duratech engined FF would kick the crap out of a full field of the 1.5L F1 cars from '61--'65. Unless, of course, Jimmy Clark came back to us with a Lotus 25. ;)

That's a nice knock off of the last of the tube framed F1 cars like Cooper circa 1966 or the Lola from the previous formula and some early FA/F5000 cars. A 5.3L Chevy seems like overkill and inappropriate, though, since it is a truck engine. Leave it to NASCAR... A mildly race tuned race version of any of the current 4.0L DOHC V8s on the market now would be just fine. Just spec a fairly hard, treaded tire and we're set to go.
