The California woman who had the octuplets has been on welfare/disability since '99. She used her first disability payment to have her first 6 petri dish children. And now, Californians and the rest of you will be expected to fund these 8 for the next 18 years. :shakehead
RHR_Fan, did you notice the thread title. I didn't pick on wimmin
As long as we continue to cater to people like this it will only get worse.

I really, really, really thought this person was from Indiana.
Right now, I feel just the slightest bit better about my state than I did 30 seconds ago.

She was probably born in Ohio :D
That fertility clinic needs to be shut down. (assuming she used the same one for all 14)
I was thinking of someone else entirely... ;)

So how does this work?
For people I've known who tried the fertility thing IIRC insurance picked up the first three tries. After that if nothing took you were on your own for about $4K a pop. I've seen it become a real stress on the marriage because of the"slot machine" mentality that can develop (Honey, let's try it just one more time, we still have credit cards we haven't maxed out) -- especially with all the hormones they pump the mother up with.
So did her insurance pick up the tab for this? Medicaid? I know it is a tricky issue regulating a woman's reproductive rights, but someone could have said we are not paying for this.

Have you read/heard about this woman... Like how she wants to be Angelina Jolie and gets collagen injections and stuff?
This woman needs to have her kids taken away and her hoo-ha sewn shut.

Mind you, she's been collecting disability for over 3 years for an injured back.
Do you think she'll have stretch marks?
It's not everyday you see that kind of commitment to crazy. :shakehead

That sounds about right. At least 80% of the "counselors" and people I know with psych degrees are basket cases and almost all of them have done an outstanding job of ****ing up their own kids. That they get paid to "help" people amazes me. Maybe it takes one to know one.

She's nuts, but is'nt it the medical peoples fault this happened? No way she would have produced a litter like that on her own. Are medical types obligated to "treat" infertility with no guidelines? Seems the regulatory and ethical end of this is the really sticky part to sort out.

It's all a mess. If RHR_Fan wanted to marry all the men who are in love with her, she'd have to break the law. But an NBA player can travel the country and have kids in a dozen different cities and no one can say anything :shakehead

Bwahahahahaha. Seeing as how I have 0 men in love with me I wouldn't be breaking the law.
I am soooooo glad I do not live in California.

Yup.
So what happens when really wacky technologies come on line? What if women who have the right to refuse treatment for their mental illnesses can use genetic engineering? Will we see high school swimmers with gills? Triplets with Britney Spears' face and Beyonce's behind? Human killing machines born for the Marines? If we respect the rights of reproduction, will anything limit the insanity?
Bwahahahahaha. Seeing as how I have 0 men in love with me I wouldn't be breaking the law.

What's better for society? Dennis Rodman's bastard kids strung out across the country or RHR_Fan and her mens all happy at home in Wisconsin?

Nadya Suleman, however, managed to make $1.2 million off her Today Show interview and has since purchased a $1.24 million home in California.
This is just nuts. Can anyone say IRS? If the Today show paid her $1.2 million, well somebody needs to be fired.

She needs a large house and some cash to care for that litter. :gomer:Tabloid paydays are huge and that is not out of line. The Enquirer and such will pay 100s of thousands for the right still photo.

Forget the IRS. She needs a financial adviser. She's crazy to think the money is going to keep rolling in like that. She should've moved to the midwest and bought a house for $300k.
