Apparently his ex-girlfriend is suing him because SHE CHOSE to have unprotected sex with him even after he showed signs of having AIDS but did not get tested for it. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090212/ap_on_sp_ba_ne/bbo_alomar_lawsuit_10

I didn't even know he had AIDS or HIV. Is that old news?

No it most definitely isn't old news, and I'm sure John Hirschbeck is interested since Alomar spat on him...

OK I'm not getting it. It is reckless for him to have unprotected sex, but not reckless for her to consent to unprotected sex.

She didn't test positive for HIV so there is no harm/loss except for the emotional trauma of having unprotected sex for four year... that she consented to and could have stopped at any time.

And he says he is in "very good health" and looked fine in Toronto in April

And he was still playing (badly) for the first two years of their relationship and if he had "obvious signs" of HIV I would think it would have shown up in a team physical.

Doesn't seem to come together well. Sounds like maybe an innovative palimony suit intended from the start to be settled out of court.

severe fatigue, sores on his mouth and throat, a constant cough and an infection of the esophagus

If you are going to be on the hook for guaranteed MLB type money I think you might not over look some of that stuff even if you are most concerned about arms and legs. ;)

HIV isn't transmitted via saliva so it isn't an issue.
