German auto maker shows off radical new W16 design concept for 2011 IRL
The Indianapolis 500 will exclusively use VW power in 2011 Racecar can exclusivley reveal. VAG's new engines will be based on a revolutionary quad turbo W16 design. The two litre powerplants are said to be highly efficient and only use three quarters of the fuel used in the current IRL spec engines.

I think the quad turbo gave away the notice as april fool joke.
Great web site, looks authentic.
The description of the engine as a W16 quad turbo was a dead giveaway, especially since they had a picture of the block. I started laughing as soon as I clicked after being e-mailed the link.
BTW, have you folks checked out the vid of the machining of the aluminum block? Amazing.

The video of the block machining is a great example of why production engine blocks are machined on transfer lines, often with horizontal broaches to do the decking. Fun to watch but at that rate not many cars would ever get built. :D
