Either way
Really don't care
Exciting for some
Depressing for others

Can't find a link to confirm. Your link lands on a slide show of the Marlin Mermaids (which is better than pictures of Helio, so thank you.):)
Juror #4
I will second that.
Once I was done checking each of those for the Helio story, I found this:

When did baseball get cheerleaders?
Do you think they're contractually required to maintain a certain hair length just for these routines? :spirit:

Although the pictures were nice the jury hasn't come back yet.
The 12-person jury began deliberations Friday after six weeks of testimony and did not reach a verdict Monday. They will continue Tuesday.

Just seeing how hard it is to start an internet rumor. Obviously, it is beyond my feeble abilities. Nice eye candy, though. Could have been the Manatees:eek:

I believed you, but I can be pretty gullible.

I think this Jury pool photo nicely summarizes Helio's future:

Uh Oh.
Just because the Yankee groundskeepers dance to YMCA doesn't they need to find their one South Florida bear gay white trash equivalent.

Great, the jury is confused.:irked:
Jurors on Tuesday sent a note seeking definitions of 3 tax principles at the heart of the case. Lawyers on both sides planned to respond later in the day.
It was the third day of deliberation following a six-week trial for Castroneves, a 2-time Indianapolis 500 winner. Jurors have now sent the judge three notes requesting more information.

6 week trials tend to do that. There's a lot of information to sift through.

6 week trials tend to do that. There's a lot of information to sift through. After six weeks everyone just wants to go home, so they either vote to fry in 10 minutes or it's not guilty.

I suppose this is why jury consulting is an occupation. :)
Partial verdict reached.
Federal judge Donald Graham said he would not immediately read the verdicts on two tax evasion counts against Castroneves and told jurors to continue deliberating on four other tax evasion counts and one conspiracy count. Thursday was the fifth day of deliberations. Castroneves, 33, is charged with conspiring with his sister and lawyer to evade more than $2.3 million in U.S. income taxes.
The jury said it also reached a partial verdict against Katuicia Castroneves, 35, who is her brother's business manager, and a full verdict against Michigan motorsports attorney Alan Miller, 71. Those verdicts also remained sealed.

As the notes were read to the jury, Castroneves sat bent over at the defense table with his fists clenched to his eyes and his sister's arm wrapped around his shoulder. When court recessed, he dabbed his eyes with a handkerchief.
There's more where those came from.
There's more where those came from.
And more bending over to come. :D :gomer:

You gotta love the defense argument that Helio is a moron and not only couldn't set up a tax dodge to save his life but is too lame/lazy to read the documents he signs....:gomer:

MIAMI -- A jury has acquitted Indy race car driver Helio Castroneves of tax evasion but remained hung on a count of conspiracy.
Jurors deliberated for six days before reaching their verdict on Friday.
All three were acquitted (brief article, so I didn't want to copy 'n paste all of it).

Contrary to the old saying, apparently -- yes.
These big name guys almost always get acquitted (can you say "OJ"?) because there is always some technicality that can free them.
Personally, I bear the guy no ill will. I just think he's an idiot. He knows he didn't win that Indy 500. He knows he let Danica pass. He lets himself be used all the time. This time he nearly got caught. One can only wonder what's next.

It's weird. There's reasonable doubt, but this is a new level where personal responsibility is tossed out the window. I see things like this contrasted with parents getting sued (and paying huge damages) when their children are in car accidents driving a car registered to them. Apples and oranges, but the logic just feels backwards.
The whole world knows PT won. :) The IRL said so (I wish I saved that PDF) in their final report following the ruling that Helio would remain the winner.
I believe the deferred payment was to come to Helio in May per his attorneys. You better believe the IRS will be looking for their check by the end of that month.
:) Were they the jury of his peers?.....the gay community of Miami are tight :)

When the tax laws are so opaque that the judge is forced to issue numerous additions to the jury instructions in an effort to teach the jury tax law...
reasonable doubt is pretty much guaranteed.

Only when you're rich. ;)
I'm surprised - the Feds don't usually bring a B game to court.
I think the "ignorance" part was the conspiracy defense, basically claiming he was too ignorant to do this on purpose.
I guess I'm kinda glad that the meth-head, flamboyant, spidermonkey got off. The Feds didn't seem to have it all together (like I would have expected).
