I don't mean to sound "preachy" but it just seems a bit morbid to talk bad / make jokes about the dead.

I don't know about that, but I do know it's in pretty poor taste..and yes all women deserve better..my wife deserves better than me I know that for sure...she must do because she tells me that every single day... ;)

I would hazard to say that there are jokes about just about every public figure's death. It's not just people here or on the Internet. It's everywhere. It's human nature. The time that has to go by before such jokes are considered acceptable seems to depend on who they were and the circumstances of their death.
That doesn't mean that there couldn't be a grain of truth in some of the soapbox stuff, but I think it's a rather tenuous case to make under the circumstances.
