View Full Version : Twenty Five
I'm pleased to report that Missy and I celebrated our twenty fifth wedding anniversary this past weekend. To celebrate we had a little party for family and friends. Since we occasionally go to trivia night at a local pub with some friends and a music round is part of that, we thought we'd challenge our guests to identify 25 song clips, one from each year that we've been married from 1984 to 2009.
We thought some of you might like to give it whirl. Of course it's easy to cheat on the interwebs so you're on the honor system.

Your prize for playing is a round of drinks. Good job, trish for getting most of them right away!
Yes, Rick Astley was a meta-rickroll, but it really was a hit in 1988. :D
I gave Insomniac 1996 because he got both the correct title and name. I imagine chop left off a smiley, but Joan Osborne is actually no relation to Ozzy Osbourne. :)
Yeah, well, this is awkward... So, what, you forgot the stamp on my invitation? Typo on my email address? You thought she invited me and she thought you did? Got your wires crossed, did you?
We are wondering if courier pidgins were really such a good idea for the invites at this point. :D
Rocket actually got The Proclaimers and I didn't get Matchbox 20 either.
And thanks for the trivia, it was fun.

I didn't do too bad. Some of the bands just have too many songs that sound too similar for me to know by name.
One interesting thing about one of the songs you picked is the Proclaimers song actually came out a couple years before it was used in Benny & Joon.
1984 was a good year. Congratulations.

Happy 25th anniversary, and thanks for the audio trip down Memory Lane! :)

Yes, there were a few that way. We put them in for the year that they were hits (in the US) rather than their year of release. I guess I should add that these weren't all favorites by any means. In fact, with neither of us listening to much commercial radio we had trouble finding popular songs that we had heard before from recent years. :)

Belated congrats to the two of you.
BTW, it must be the time of year, because there are a few more anniversaries that this board has a part of:
6/4/04: Fitti Fan and BMEP
6/7/93: Manic & Mrs. Manic (officially started 6/29/83, but delayed 10 years due to economics :D)
As far as the mp3s, I got 16 on the first pass (no song name on the Prince tune and no band name on 500 Miles counting for 1/2 each) with 6 complete misses (I never was much on boy bands, Janet, TLC, and some of the "crossover" tunes from 2004-07). That's what I get for catching this thread late!

Happy Anniversary you guys!!!! Boss and THE Boss, about a week late. Manic and Mrs. a day late.
Another six months and TravelGuy and I will hit the 25 year mark. Hard to believe. At least for us, it's been a real quick ride. Can't say we've missed all the bumps but nothing airborne, not even any bad crashes. We wish the same for everyone here.
