They don't want meth addicts racing, that is fully within their rights.

TSN has an article saying he again tested positive for meth, and step-mommy-dearest swore she's seen him do meth repeatedly.

This isn't going to end well for either side.
I don't think I believe stepmom. Jeremy would have to be high to go around telling people he used drugs.

Cal Naughton, Jr.: Hey, when you have the stereo and TV on, how do you change the volume on the stereo?
Ricky Bobby: "If you have the stereo on..." Why do you have the stereo on while you're watching TV?
Cal Naughton, Jr.: 'Cause I like to party.
Ricky Bobby: I've sent in my application to the Real World. So I'm hoping to hear back from that. I'm putting A LOT of my eggs into that basket, the MTV basket. I'm also thinking about getting a gun, and dealing crack. Being a crack dealer. Not like a mean crack dealer, but like... like a nice one. Kinda friendly like, "hey, what's up guys? Want some crack?" I'm just waiting on those two things to flesh themselves out.
Cal Naughton, Jr.: I like to picture Jesus in a tuxedo T-Shirt because it says I want to be formal, but I'm here to party.

I'd rather see a field full of dudes on PCP than meth, though. Think about it: Daytona 500, the big one happens and takes out 15 cars. Then, 15 drivers jump out, one or two on fire, and take off running around the track at full speed, screaming, flailing their arms and punching other cars.
What ratings slide?

mayfield - " You know, Brian France out there talking about effective drug policy, it's kind of like Al Capone talking about effective law enforcement. And that's the way I feel about it. The pot shouldn't be calling the kettle black, you know what I'm saying? And I think the world needs to hear that, too."

The most obvious is that Brian France has been caught DUI although the cops have turned a blind eye. That there may be less widely known implications would not surprise me at all.
Yeah, I would absolutely love to see this blow up sky high in the Frances face and lead to all manner of of revelations...:D

This is how heyJeremy consistantly gets himself in trouble. First he ran his mouth about Ray Evernham and Erin Crocker and now he's going to go after Brian France? He must be on drugs.

well i for one am looking forward to his reality show :saywhat:
Mayfield: "Yeah, I'd love to respond to it. The day after this happened, day one, we started shooting a documentary on all this, some buddies of mine and friends of mine in the past that I worked with, they're in the movie business kinda, out in L.A. And we started shooting a documentary of our lives every day since then. And Buddy asked the question: How'd this change your life? We're going to show on TV, and the world's going to know how it's changed our life because they've been with us every day, 24/7. And that day there they were with us and watched. They met the NASCAR security and, I guess, the collectors at my front porch. Nobody held them off for 10 minutes. Nobody had done any of that stuff. Nobody was running and hiding. I waited here at my house for an hour and a half and it's documented on tape, live, waiting for them to get here. And they say, 'Well, you ran from this, ran from that.' They give me 18 minutes. My attorney told me - I had a meeting on Monday - I had 18 minutes to get to the lab of their choice, whatever it was, to go take my test. Well, there's no way I could make it in 18 minutes. And I got mad about it. I was like, 'There's no way I can make it there.' So we went and got our own test right before just to show the world I was not trying to hide anything. So we've got all this documented and it's all going to come out and the truth will be known."

I doubt it though unless he gets a non-race writer to write about it outside of the racing press. Too many of the regulars know where their trough is.
I never was a Mayfield fan but I also don't much about him. I do think that he doesn't seem like the typical meth-type (whatever that is) and I would not be surprised if NASCAR just screwed him big time because they can and they want everybody else to know they just can. That's been the France family style for 50 years.

I remember Richmond as a tremendous talent and always wished he'd stayed to race in CART instead of going to NASCAR. He was one of the last drivers that kept me interested in NASCAR during the 80s as I grew disenchanted with the obvious demise of "stock" cars.
As sad as his death was NASCAR made it much more difficult for him in his last couple of years by hounding him out of their version of motorsports. I doubt than many who call themselves NASCAR fans today even know about Richmond -- that's how thoroughly NASCAR erased him from the decade of the 80s. What little NASCAR has done to include him again in their history in the past decade is not enough to make up for how miserably they treated him in 1987/88.

Wikipedia - Richmond was the first driver to change from open wheel racing to NASCAR stock cars, which has since become an industry trend
:\
Tim Richmond was a complete and total jerk who spread AIDS wherever he went, and knew he was doing it.
I don't know anything about or care anything about the current state of NASCAR or about Jeremy Mayfield, but what would NASCAR gain by lying about the results of a drug test?
They've already legitimately run drug abusers out of the sport, they don't have to make something up to prove they are serious.

I'd like to believe NASCAR is setting him up, because they are evil bastards and nothing is beyond them.
My question is what reason would they have to set him up?
The other thing is, the way he talks, he sounds like an addict. Maybe he is just a :gomer: though, and speaks that way as his usual way of talking.

He's been around that circus so long there is no end to the possibilities as far as reasons to set up him. He could know something, have seen something or insulted the wrong person, etc. On the other hand I agree that he behaves like he's using.

Looks like Nascar was right the whole time.
And this time of course, it's not Mayfield's he knows nothing about the drugs found on his property, or the $100,000 in stolen property either. And this brings to my mind, how much of the stuff sold at Jeremy's auction awhile back was really his or was it stolen property too????

jeremy now has the bank starting foreclosure and looks like the drug/theft charges may be coming in january.
“Mr. Mayfield has no knowledge of either stolen property or methamphetamine being present on his property and denies the accusation that he was in possession of methamphetamine or any other illegal drug and he denies any suggestion that he knowingly received or possessed stolen property,” attorney Daniel Marino said in a Nov. 2 statement.
“This search was prompted by what the evidence will show were baseless allegations by an unreliable source.”
