PATRICK ON THE MOVE?

A source close to the Target Chip Ganassi team informed Sun Media that Danica Patrick closed a deal here to move from the Andretti-Green team next year to join Scott Dixon and Dario Franchitti in the series which also opens the door for Danica to run some tier two NASCAR races for Ganassi.

On the track the race also made history.

It came within one lap of becoming the first IndyCar race ever to be raced on green from start to finish. As it was it went down in history as the race with the fewest number of laps under yellow in IndyCar history.

Noteworthy. But mostly boring.

What happened in the pits, however, wasn't boring.

And as much as this weekend was a story of a part-time driver racing a Penske Truck Rental car to win the pole and the race, leading 90 of 95 laps in doing so, it was the Penske pit people who ended up being the story.

"I need to thank Penske and all of the guys who pulled me out of the car," said Kanaan.

Penske president Tim Cindric was as proud of his people in the pits for pulling off the win as he was of the special team of people who bounce from sports car to stock car to Indy Car on the weeks Power is given a third Penske car to race selected series events.

"Fortunately, our guys were on their toes when the incident happened and the guys from Wheldon's crew and even the Ganassi guys made it all the way down there to help out," said Cindric.

"It was really great reaction by all of the crews on pit lane to help Tony out. It could have been a lot worse for him.

"Fortunately it wasn't too bad."

Castroneves said when it comes to something like a fire in a driver's car, everybody is on the same team.

So who leaves Ganassi, Dixon or Dario or is Penske going to run a 3rd for power and Chip runs a 3rd for DP? Since TG's hand outs have been cut I expect some of the bottom feeders to cut bait.

Just gotta love how the middle name pops into print now that she's courting the good ol' boy market.

As for the boogity man, yes he is an idiot. But he's an affable idiot and that is what has continued his career in NASCAR beyond the track and into the booth. His brother is also an affable idiot, albeit with far less talent. It's Michael's personality helped him survive something like an 0 for 300+ starts winless streak in the front end of his driving career to become a successful spokesperson for his sponsor.

The Princess Permapout has that really great combination of being nearly talentless and really bitchy to boot. She'll get ground up and spit out by NASCAR machine fairly quickly unless she hooks up with an owner who can't admit he made a mistake judging her abilities, as Penske is with Sam the Sham.
