No word on who's in the #2 Ferrari?

Luca Badoer is driving the Ferrari. Still two seconds off of Kimi...
Spa weekend and it is raining. At least some things never change.

I don't like Valencia either. Boring. Spa, on the other hand, is hands down my favorite track on the F1 calendar and probably my favorite race track in any series.

I don't see how somebody can jump in a car they've never driven before and be competitive, but Badoer may be in the process of losing his testing gig. The test drivers need to be reasonably close to the race drivers to provide useful feedback.

Are you allowed to gain spots like Kimi did after going off and then coming back on the track?

NismoZ

Of course, red car. F-1's version of "The Pass." Took 'em awhile but F-1 finally gets the script right..."A Ferrari takes the lead at Spa!";)

08-30-09, 08:51 AM
I'm more interested in the comments about Fisichella's "position" while in the lead. "I don't think Fisichella will hold him (Kimi) up much, do you?" (chuckle, chuckle)-Matchett. They weren't referring to KERS at that point either. Then, AFTER Kimi's KERS pass, regarding Fisi's strategy, "He'll have to do whatever Maranello require." Really?:saywhat: Unofficial "negotiations?" I say if Fisi has the chance he should push Kimi off at La Source, the scene of Kimi's "designed" WIIIIIDE pass, and win the damn race to REALLY impress Ferrari!:D Interesting Ferrari "team orders, eh? (Oooo...Fisi's catching him!)

Excellent F1 race and nice to see that podium.

I hope this race stays on the calendar. The last thing F1 needs is another race in the middle east at some sterile Tilke track with no attendance.

There was a big crowd at Spa today.

I found the race and most of this season to be pretty boring actually. They made all those ham-fisted changes to increase overtaking, making the cars look really ugly, and there has been much less of it this year.

Some driving errors and cockups in the pits can certainly change the results in a hurry. Had to be deflating for Brawn to have stationary at the start and Button out less than half a lap later. Finishing in the pits with a big oil fire seemed oddly appropriate.

Looks like the money Mallya has spent on the McLaren technical assistance and the Benz lump is finally paying off. Would have sooner if Sutil had any kind of luck.

Weird race or not, it was Spa and it looked like a good crowd.

Good race watching the Sacred Cow sniffing the Prancing Horse. Now how about some rules stability so the curds can separate from the turds.

Speaking of rules, what's this about an FIA investigation of Singapore '08? Piquet spun on purpose (ordered by Flav, I suppose?) so Alonso can seal a win? Piquet gets dumped this year so he blew the whistle? Let's go to the radio transmissions!:) So, what's the lesson here, fall on your sword for the emperor then if you don't die we'll kill ya?

You mean:

Now how about some rules stability so the teams with obscene budgets can beat the smaller, more innovative teams.

Screw that! This year we got a little taste of what we used to enjoy every year a couple decades back. If a little rules instability does that, I say new rules every year!

I'm surprised at the lack of discussion about Toyota leaving based on the Williams situation. Or am I behind the curve and the Conventional Wisdom is that it's long since been assumed they're leaving?

The Toyota board is going to do what they are going to do. No sense worrying about it until they announce something.

Toyota would be smarter to supply one of the new teams with an engine and stick their logo on the wings someplace. You still get some F1 exposure and you don't have to run that giant race team.

Might as well have a customer team trolling around the back or mid-pack as well as the factory team. Costs a hell of a lot less...

Rules stability always winds up with tighter grids not further separation.

BMW should do the same.

Everyone wants to be Ferrari, though.
