My cable company just gave me a couple of new HD channels, including Speed HD. So I setup the DVR to record the race in HD since I was going to be away this weekend.

Went to watch it last night and the sound on the HD broadcast was screwed up. I could hear the announcers just fine. But there was no sound from the international feed. No engines sounds. When they cut to the pit reporter guy, the only one that is actually on site, you could hear the engines in the background, but that was the only engine sounds.

It is wierd to watch a race which is completely quiet except for announcers.

Did anyone else watch in HD and have this problem?

i dvr'd the live showing and it worked fine for me.

No problems at all. You might want to check your system to see if you have some secondary audio tracks turned on.

Indeed. My old Aquos used to have the reverse problem if the faux-surround was turned on- very prominent engine/ambient noise and almost inaudible commentary.

Actually, maybe problem isn't the correct word. ;)

Exact same problem for me with the newly added Speed HD on my Time Warner cable. I talked to a buddy yesterday and he reported the same sound problem on his non-HD Speed cable feed.

Perhaps OK on Direct TV but not some cable systems ?

In my case the HD feed behaved properly on Dish Network.

HD with u-verse here.
sounds like problem is coming from the cable company's feed.

i'm sure they'll have it worked out by the next race ;)

i know!
since charter i've had dish, direct, and now u-verse.
thankfully i do have 4 options to choose from.

the u-verse bundle Rocks!, i've got so much extra bs it's mind boggling :saywhat:

Same here. got the HD version from uVerse.
