View Full Version : The Foyt Futility Watch 2010 -- They're Back and More Pathetic Than Ever
Yes, our favorite All American All Oval Indycar Experiment is back for another season of Futility with fewer ovals and fewer Americans than ever.
I've nominated our Futility Regulars for 2010. We'll see whose lack of merit puts them on the Futility Resevere list on a race by race basis. Your nominations are welcome.

Of course, if she did manage to get into a crapwagon it would be nice to see her humiliate the Princess Permapout on track. What a waste that she hasn't found something better to do in motorsports with her talent and aspirations. She was linked with HVM for a test last December but I never ran into anything more than the mention that she was supposed to run at Sebring for them.

Jeebus....
Vernay finally took his first win in the Euroseries, at the 42nd attempt, winning the sprint race at Hockenheim.
Philip Major completed the full season with 3 top-10 finishes and finished 18th in points, last among Championship Class participants that competed in the full schedule.
Pippa Mann signed to drive for Panther Racing in the 2009 Firestone Indy Lights series, during her debut season with Panther Racing, Mann scored a string of top 15 finishes, including three top ten results.

Looks like a fire sale on Indy Lights seats just to get some cars on the grid. I wonder if a field filler Dallara ride for the Indy 500 was tossed in as an inducement to sign?
I hope the :gomer: s at TF are all puking their tenderloins over the lack of American dirt track heroes being signed for 2010 for both the Lights series and the IRL. :p

Well, obviously they're being sponsored by Team Penske. I wonder what sort of product they're trying to promote. ;)

So is Phillip Morris still sending Penske money for their direct mail promotion leveraging and the clearly Marlboro branded livery just had to change finally or is the tobacco money all dried up for real?
Removing each others names from their respective web sites isn't conclusive of anything other than the Master Settlement's gradually increased restrictions of overt tobacco marketing.
We'll find out....no free tix and no red pointy hats. And empty grandstands.
There has been better coverage of the ALMS winter test at Sebring by far than whatever the hell is going on at Barber. The only photos I can find so far are from Twitpic.
Is the IRL's promotional strategy to block all info from the general public (ie. the 1500 people left who actually seek IndyCar news)? Actually that wouldn't be surprising if Barnhart has his say.
Mazak on the tip fences. That is at least a clue where Penske is getting his milling machines from these days -- Japan. Are there any American machine tool companies left?

Haas is 100% US content. Haas makes everything down to the fasteners at their highly automated mega factory in Oxnard, CA. Hardinge is still US owned and bought Swiss builders Kellenberger and Tschudin. Gleason is US owned and bought Swiss gear machine builders Pfauter-Maag and Hurth along the way.
Fadal and Cincinnati are now owned by European machine tool conglomerate MAG. They still have plants in the US. Landis is now owned by the French company Fives Group.

I'll give props to Haas, but 100% is doubtful. Are they making their own ballscrews and linear guides now? Because those used to be sourced from either NSK or THK and both were made in Japan. Same with the Yaskawa servo motors. And a fair number of their castings for the larger machines were from Mexico. Tons of components were sourced from around the globe. Monitors from Taiwan or China. Bijur lube pumps from Japan.
The other dirty little secret is Haas builds machines in overseas factories too.

YESSS! And...Ana Beatriz in a 3rd Dreyer & Reinbold entry. (SA race) Lets see if she's faster than Princess too.
But, but, but good ol' Darrell Waltrip said at the beginning of the ARCA race that Danica's NASCAR experience would make her better in the IRL. He even pointed at Dario's championship last year as proof.
:boogity:
You serious? He actually said Dario's NASCAB experience translated into a League title? I guess Montoya ought to consider a return to F-1.
