lots of wiki articles on weird stuff (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Unusual_articles?reddit)
You could spend a lot of time learning useless stuff.
And some that's not useless.
I have experienced this. It's pretty messed up.

Mill Ends Park - The smallest park in the world – 452 in² (0.3 m²) – located in Portland, Oregon.
I am always fascinated by this stuff:

Many of these were little amusement parks built by the railroads to bring people onto the rails and out of the city. Most are located near exisiting or abandoned rail/trolley lines.
They have a section on lost speedways of the area here:

Right smack in the middle of Front, I drive by it all the time. Even if you know where it is it's easy to miss.

Yup, and it'll always be Front Avenue to me as well. It may say Naito Parkway on the signs and maps but screw that. :saywhat:
Bill Naito was never inconvenienced by the curse of integrity. The kind of deal he did was to sell Kaiser Permanente the land for their new regional data center across the street from a metal forging operation. He made sure he always met the Kaiser people there during hours when the forging operation wasn't running. Of course once the building was completed and the IT staff moved in the massive crash of the large steam driven forging hammer all day drove everybody crazy. Bill's response to the law suit was to have his buddies at US Bank call in the note on the forging company effectively shutting down a company that had been there since 1914 and putting 56 people out of work. :irked: If they wanted to name something after Bill it should have been an outhouse somewhere.

What I've heard described as the second smallest city park is coincidentally also in Oregon, not far from my house- Waldo Park, which consists of a single sequoia.

What is the definition of a "park", anyway?

"Recreational" land acquired by or granted to a governmental entity for use by the public. Disposition and development of such land is generally prohibited.
In this instance, both Mill Ends and Waldo are city parks. Mill Ends started out as a running gag by a newspaperman, Waldo was a legal end-run to prevent a tree from being cut for a street widening project.
