More bad news for Central America. The photo of the sinkhole falls into the WTF category. :eek:
In the northern part of Guatemala City, the downpour created a giant sinkhole that swallowed up a space larger than the area of a street intersection. Residents told CNN that a three-story building and a house fell into the hole. (http://www.cnn.com/2010/WORLD/americas/05/31/honduras.storm.emergency/index.html?hpt=T1)

:eek:I'd expect a little yellow man serving eggrolls at the other end of that thing.

Seriously, WTF????
(Somebody at the Pentagon is asking, "How can we make one of those?")
I kind of expect to see the Millennium Falcon come shooting out of there chased by a space slug.

That photos looks like it was made by a dropout from Photoshop 101. Absolutely amazing to have to get your head around the fact that it
is real. :eek::eek::eek:
That is truly frightening.
I think if we can discover the secret behind this, we can finally defeat House Harkonnen.
Residents said that a poor sewage drainage system underground was to blame for the sinkhole. A similar hole opened up nearby last year, they said.
Got to be something else going on here. Truly bizarre photo.

Karst topography. Same thing in Florida. Deep layers of limestone or similar rock that can dissolve.
