Someone told me about this item today and I didn't believe him.

Two men who were apparently trying to take an unusual thrill ride were seriously injured in an explosion at a shop that builds and services race cars in Washington state.

Fire Chief Dean Klinger told the Skagit Valley Herald the men put about four gallons of methanol in a 55-gallon barrel in the parking lot Sunday night, sat on top and lit it for a "barrel ride."

Non-local sprint car driver and his mechanic in the area for a race.
Apparently they'd successfully pulled it off before...

In order to qualify for a Darwin award, they need to remove themselves from the gene pool by either 1) death via stupidity; or 2) self-eliminating their ability to reproduce, again in stupidity - i.e., either blow off or burn off their nuts.

Did they succeed at the latter?

I would not call two idiots sitting on a barrel of fuel and lighting it "motorsports".:gomer:

Had they sold tickets, it might have better attendance than some other events. :tony:

Even if they did not succeed, they would still clearly qualify for an Honorable Mention...

The fact that the IRL still exists is enough to show that Darwin doesn't do racing.

Know your ancient SciFi:
Erin Gray was Col. Wilma Deering on Buck Rogers in the 25th Century.

Maren Jensen was my teenage love interest....well her and Charlie's Angels and Dian Parkinson on The Price is Right. OK, so throw in Jan Smithers (Bailey Quarters on WKRP) and Loni Anderson didn't hurt my eyes either. :D
