I admit it, I tuned in a few times and watched maybe 50 laps total. How can anyone get excited about that crap? Apparently not many do because the stands were empty. It's worse than suffering through a plate race. I've now had my dose of AOW for the year :yuck:

I watched the last 75 laps, or rather I watched commercials for the last 75 laps. How is it possible that they sold that many commercial breaks? Of course a hefty chunk of them, even during the side by side crap were actually ads for Indycar or Izod promotions of the drivers.
How about this Indycar. Instead of advertising your series and drivers during the race why not just show the race in something larger than a postage stamp in the upper left corner? :shakehead

I called my mother at the start of the "race," and immediately had to comment on how many crashes there were. She reminded me that when my oldest son was about three years old he described NASCAR as "They go around and around and around and then they crash." Prescient child? :saywhat:
(By the way, he watches F1 now....)

Since there's no wall between the track and pitlane, their job is to stop any cars spinning off the track and interfering with the regularly scheduled pit follies. To assist in this, they are issued an official league catcher's mit.

Yes and it looks like it just got back from being hacked and lost a month of posts.
That place had some cool aspects, and hey I got to meet Neil Mickelwright and hang out in the Forsythe pits (well for a few minutes anyway lol) in Montreal through meeting him on that place. But in the same respect the overabundance of people like the freakazoids above turned me off from it.
Champcar signed "Salonpas" as like the official pain patch and people talked like it was the second coming of the Unser Family. I just couldn't stand spinning every tidbit of crappy news into the next big thing, and then the worship of a guy who posed in broken english with ,,,,,,,,,, everywhere that made crappy paper mache cars for people... I just had to get out of that Koolaid bar.
True, true, true,,,,,;) but those were NOT crappy little papier mache cars. My showcased '27 pole winning Frank Lockhart Perfect Circle Supercharged Miller-8 still ocupies a prominant place among all the metal on my "race day" shelf next to the big screen.:)

It was a nice thing for him to do, my comment was a bit uncalled for. I just couldn't understand the worship of him there. There were sometimes that people would challenge him there and many that didn't like him. They were often quickly banned.

Between ,,,,,,, his posting posse and Pole Dance Pauly, CW turned into a bigger propaganda site than TF.
A lot of people there stopped posting after he was banned. Curious, that.

Trying to start a cult.
What did he get banned for?
After the wake for Champ Car he started to lean a little gomer.
Which I really do not understand. By mid-season 2008 it was quite clear that the IRL would always be in suck mode, regardless of whether the war was over. I was willing to give them a chance if they transformed themselves, but they blew it. They are fundamentally phony marketers, not racers, plain and simple.
His attitude had more of a long-term, things have been bad before, I can ride this out feel. Not popular at CCF.
Trying to start a cult.
Yeah, there was that, too.

BS - the ,,,,,,,cult was fully supported by the mods and admins over there. Thus all of the bannings plus the departure of a long time mod who apparently didn't agree.

Wow, amazing he turned that way and got banned for it. Especially considering his posts/attitude. He was like king of "everythings gonna be alright".
That place was wayy to crazy with the bannings, if you said anything even remotely critical of CC or mentioned anything about the IRL that didn't involve it sucking, you were done.
BS - the ,,,,,,,cult was fully supported by the mods and admins over there. Thus all of the bannings plus the departure of a long time mod who apparently didn't agree.
Yes, but once Champ Car died, their attitude toward the cult changed. Was it because of his connection to people in the series, whom they sought the favor of? Was Pole Dance Paulie subsidizing the place? Perhaps they were simply embarrassed by their previous acceptance of his positive spins. I don't know, but once CCWS was gone, he was no longer protected.
What is the lesson? Maybe never to believe anyone with an agenda, and almost everyone has an agenda. Also, Australians, insane millionaires, and sleazy businessmen from Michigan are probably not the best people to own racing series. Although they are still better than drunken hicks from Terre Haute.
Really doesn't amount to much now, does it? :shrugs:
