I present yet more reasons.

FINA has no rules for maximum water temperatures during a meet.

FINA doesn't have people keeping track of the competitors during an open water race.

There was one boat with officials and no lifeguards.

I never heard of FINA, but it seems they are a bunch of tools. Every event, no matter how local or small has a sweeper follow the last place entrant.

That staggers me. Even the most local of triathlons have people in the water.

Unreal.

FINA does some really dumb things, but this tops it all. The thing is, they'll probably do absolutely nothing about it. They will continue to follow the $$$.

On a side note, my son has been selected for the USA Swimming Open Water Training Camp next summer. My wife kind of freaked out when she saw the news.
