Saw that too...what a terrible shame...I will never forget TWR's most famous victory of all at the 1988 Le Mans. First Jaguar victory there in over 30 years...great day to be a British race fan, even better that I got to share it with 300,000 of my fellow countrymen..
Thank you Mr. Walkinshaw, may you rest in peace.
Wow, I didn't even know he was ill. Lung cancer. :(
Bathurst 1985 is the strongest memory I have of Walkinshaw. Great qual lap.

You read my mind. When I saw the topic title I immediately thought of that clip. Aussie V-12s! And no chicane or guardrail but plenty of TREES along that back straight. The wheel just keeps on turning, doesn't it?:(

Holy ****! What's that track like now? That lap took HUGE balls. At 41 sec the apex is giant rock.

Still a rock. But they have protected the rock by covering it up with concrete.
Check again as he lifts both left side wheels on the run up the mountain and that up shift at full chat while leaning into a right hander. MY two favorite moments!

About the only changes are concrete fences around the whole circuit and there is a still quite high speed chicane after the second rise in Conrod straight (about 3/4 of the way down).
