Very interesting.
I am surprised it would take 3-4 hrs to recharge using it's own compressor.
What pressure does the air motor operate at?
I can't wait for Clarkson to roll one over trying to go around the Top Gear test track. :D

What about an exploding air tank? It would make everyone in the car very dead.

Plug it in and listen to a typical tool compressor run for four hours:saywhat:
Thanks but no thanks.

Pinto Mark II ;)

Action movies would be very boring. A car crash or a hail of bullets would no longer create a huge fireball, just a large whooshing sound. :p

Meh - OK with the right protection. We are driving around now with 15 gallons of a flammable carcinogen in the tank.
We've heard the same with hydrogen and LNG - more dangerous than gasoline. So says the gasoline producer.

Hate to be a wet blanket, but wouldn't that additional (and lossy) step yield a less efficient vehicle? Whatever gains you might get from weight savings from an offboard compressor would be dwarfed by the energy losses in compressing and decompressing that air (buncha heat generated there), and even that's out the window if you wimp out and include an onboard compressor...
