Am about 15 minutes into it and it's cool. Just noticed he's also on this month's Motorsport Podcast, which is always great. Got a question for you guys. Have read on forums (maybe it was 7th gear) that Dario is a major prick to meet. Is he really? But he always seems so cool on these interviews. Maybe it's just race weekends...these guys have their game face on then-really don't expect much then. Carroll Smith in his book Drive to Win pretty much summed it up for me...that people make a big stink about drivers being aholes but the racers just laugh at that. As he says, "these are hard men."

I've never had that impression of Dario. I had a nice chat with him at Siebkens the night before his last RA race. Of course, his temperament may have changed considerably now that he's in a junior league. I know mine would have.

Thanks. Everybody has their bad days and 10 years ago the racing was more intense. It could be somebody approached him on a bad day and had a bad experience. I certainly never get the vibe that he's not cool on these.

Was in the area of Dario's pit at Mid-O I think in '03. He had been leading and the car quit as he was on the straight before pit lane. They dragged the car back into the garage and the Honda engineers jumped all over it,

They plugged the laptop in, started unplugging and plugging stuff in, They would unplug and replace and then get someone to kick it in the guts. It would sit there and turn over but would not fire, Eventually one of them pulled an oversized fuse like piece from one of the system boards and plugged in a new one. Engineer said kick it in the guts and sure enough the bugger fired up.

The engineer held the faulty part up in triumph. Dario walked off in disgust. I could not blame him. Beaten by a bloody transistor.

He bitched me out once, which was fairly unheard of. That weekend I was "The Guy That Dario Yelled At." :laugh:
