Petit Le Mans

This year could be the last Petit Le Mans ever thanks to the incompetence of the ACO and their new butt buddys over in the FIA, but they sure are going out with a bang. 58 cars (53 on race day) crammed into Road Atlanta should be something to behold, and the weather looks absolutely perfect all weekend. Those lucky enough to have ESPN3 should be in for a treat come saturday.

How do they decide which 53 cars start the race?

They subtract whichever cars got destroyed in the test days and practices, which brought the count down to 54, then take out as many of the slowest cars from LMPC and GTC as they need. Its a little weird but the FIA says the track is too small to run any more than 53 cars in a multi class series.
