Missed the chance. Should have standardised with DTM...

Have you ever seen a DTM race? Absolutely no passing or anything interesting happening. Going to a DTM platform would be a complete departure from what the V8s are founded on and I think that would really alienate their fanbase. Not to mention the purpose of the COTF was to cut costs, and DTM cars certainly arent cheap.

I have watched lots of races and find them 1000 times more interesting. More grip, better traction = less chance of the overtakes with the new Australian car anyway if world motorsport has taught us anything.
Dang, the Aussie drivers sound almost as enthusiastic about their new car as the IndyCar guys do about theirs!:p

at least the grid girls are still hawt
* New car ready 1 year before needed
* 12 months for testing
* less chance it catches on fire
* lighter, faster, cheaper
* not ugly, no headlight decals
* "a better jigger"
Looks like they got their **** sorted, leaving more time for racing. :thumbup:
Is it available in the States?
The folks on ICONIC fail to see your point. :rolleyes:;)

COLONIC project is the best description if you consider the final result they squeezed out.

I like all of the above, but for a long time I've been calling it MORONIC.
Along with a new car the V8's are attracting a new type of driver.
Alexandre Premat signed for Garry Rogers. (http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/sport/motor/garry-rogers-signs-frenchman-alexandre-premat-for-2012-season/story-e6frey5r-1226259986791)

My favourite part of this story is that V8 Supercar are going to build and design the car for them. That there folks is everything that is wrong with modern motorsport. "Yes you can enter our series but only with the car (that resembles yours slightly) that we build so that you can't possibly have any advantage ever."
Advantage...DRIVER! OK, with me.

Well, it's the Kelly bros driving so that's more of a handicap. :D
It will be interesting to see what engine they use for it.
Yeah. Or DISadvantage, driver!:) Just saying I like it when maybe a driver can make up for shortcomings in the car he's driving with superior driving skills. That's an impression I was given when reading old R&T race reports featuring Stirling Moss and have seen many times in others over the years. I've found that far more entertaining than watching a superior machine just dominate a race, sometimes with a driver that "all of a sudden" got really fast!;) Geez, why do you think I pull for ol' Marcos in NASCRAP and love it when his fellow competitors call him "the best one out there"...on the road courses, of course.:)

That cab **** is almost watchable on road courses, they should run more of them. Ambrose :thumbup:

I hate them at Sonoma because the layout is just too twisty and technical for them but the Watkins Glen race is always one of the most enjoyable races to watch all year. The simplicity and speed of the Glen really pays off with the big heavy cars.
