Appreciate the attempt at humor, I suppose. :saywhat:

I've known about this guy for a while so I thought it was hilarious when Marshall posted this. I could understand though if someone who hadn't known about this at all beforehand wouldn't find this funny. Oh well, as funny as this to me I still think this guy needs to find something more productive to do with his time!
Nah, I know who MP is, I think most of us do, the article just seemed to fall flat to me.
Maybe I'm just tired.

Ugh ... look, I loved Champ Car as much as anybody, but this is just sad. It's gone, do something else with your life. I can't believe Marshall (or Speed, for that matter) would print this.
It's worth noting that this imaginary world he lives in offers only a 19-car series where Alex Figge and Matt Halliday have full-time drives. Fantasy: you're doing it wrong.
I think the angle Marshall played up is the goofy...
The fact it was (and still is) better then Speedway shoveled dung it ain't no fantasy.
To all the IRL visionaries and supporters, past and present, may you stomp a flaming bag of crap on your doorstep tonite and find coal in your holiday stockin'.

Just f'n stupid.
Only slightly less legitimate than the alternative, however.

Thank you, Trevor. I thought it was lighthearted and amusing. And I'd like to believe that he gives as much credit to Bourdais for his "four consecutive wins" as I do. Clearly he feels about them other folks the same way I do.
"With no hope of beating Plourde to the CCWS championship in 2012 or any other year, Pagenaud agreed his best course of action was to quit the series and take the easier IZOD IndyCar route." :D
Way too bizarre for me.

There are fantasies and there are fantasies - I'm sure this isn't a "in a perfect world..." fantasy. More of a "what if champcar hadn't gone bust?" vision. i'll admit that I keep a few spreadsheets containing fantasy driver/team lineups and race schedules for my personal amusement. These are the scenarios:
1. What if CCWS hadn't gone kaput in 2008?
2. What if CART hadn't gone kaput at the end of 2003?
3. What if "unification" in 2008 had been a real merger of the best of both series
4. What if the split had never happened?
Fantasy 4 is my favourite obviously. 3 is a very distant second, but 2 is not far behind that. 1 is the least palatable (ie spec chassis, road races only) - I would barely even call it a fantasy.

What the hell was that?Collateral (brain) damage.
It isn't really a matter of if TG hadn't caused the split but whether he is an idiot incapable of learning, humility and enlightened self interest.
If he chose simply to own a team and influence the series as a peer, he wouldn't have done any better in 93 than he did a few years ago.
His Marion County friends could have told him how to put on a race once a year. They seem to know that. Penske, Gurney, Haas, Patrick, et al could have taught him a lot about racing and competition, running a series, working with real corporate sponsors and partners (not cafeterias and car dealers) and being a grown up.
I don't know any of them personally but I've seen enough of their success as grown ups to believe they would have had enough enlightened self interest to mentor him if he was humble enough to listen.
