iMO nfl teams are coming to realize that while offenses are starting to look more like basketball teams, they are also learning the liability of not being able to block. The Giants have now won two super bowl since they went with solid blocker possession TEs. The kid in NO blocks well too.

Nah, it's hate-centric, mostly. Most of the writers are DC-area guys who also write elsewhere (Deadspin, SBNation, etc) and use KSK for the stuff that's too outlandish for their regular gigs. The weekly "Fun With Peter King" column is worth it alone.
Probably NSFWish for some folks, though.

I get the Saints getting slammed. Peyton lying about it and the nfl already facing suits about concussions, it all is about what I would expect.
What I don't get is the economics of the bounty. Some money went to things like getting the first interception. Ok. But if it was for injuring a player, the reward was hugely less than the fine for an illegal hit.
Then again if you hurt a guy with a legal hit, what is the problem. I hurt and got hurt plenty on legal hits playing football for 29 years.

I don't think you've been paying attention. The Bengals have improved or added depth at most of their needs positions. They're in a good position to take the best available players in April.

How is DT weaker? Simms, Peko, and Atikins are their best DTs, all returning. Rucker and Fanene flipped to DT on passing downs sometimes but Anderson and Harvey can do that as well.
At tight end they like Cochart. They may resign Lee or Scaife but they may only keep two anyway if they want to leave a slot for Leonard.
WR, yes, it would be nice to have someone else with some playing time, but there's time to get that done and still free agents out there that would be an upgrade over Caldwell.

Agreed. Bengals added kind of a silly curl around the front of the leg for their side stripe that I don't care for, but other than that it's ok. Some team colors look a bit odd in the matte finish of the new uniforms.

Manningham is a bit of a loss. He's really grown up as a man and teammate in last few years. But he was going to be expensive and the Giants have long time won without paying for expensive receivers.
Jacobs is no loss. He was going to be expensive, he is getting old and he is too often hurt. Mostly he is a pain in the ass and embarrasses his teammates. And he takes entire games off.
The fact that Bradshaw just had some scarey surgery to move bone marrow is much more of a concern.

Nothing scary about it. It was a mesenchymal stem cell transplant. You draw out some bone marrow using a big ole syringe & needle (I'd opt for taking a nap for the procedure) Then that 50 ml syringe gets stuck into a one-trick pony of a centrifuge that pumps the marrow out of the syringe, spins it to separate out the platelets, red blood cells and most of the plasma and then moves the remaining cells into a 10 ml syringe. It takes about 5-10 minutes. Then they take those cells, containing a high percentage of mesenchymal stem cells and they inject that into the injured bone. In theory, those MSCs will differentiate into osteocytes and/or chondrocytes as needed and it will enhance the healing process. In theory at least and in practice probably so if the injury was the "right" type in the "right" bone. Kinda like real estate, location, location, location.

Might be looking into it myself. I broke an ankle on 15 Dec in Indy at a client site and it is still f'd up, but I can work and OTOH is just added to the list of groans I have from being an old fart who insisted on playing competitive football until I was 40. And would still play if I could.
But Bradshaw's ankle/foot has been a persistent problem for him that just doesn't seem to want to heal. That was most of my concern.

My youngest son had that procedure (or something very similar) 8 years ago when a non-cancerous tumor was found in his right heel. Marrow was removed from his pelvic iliac crest. Magic was performed and it was injected into to hollow space in his heel. More magic ensued and he was cured. With nothing more than a couple holes punched into him. No stitches. It was performed by Dr. Robert Satcher on his last day of practice at Childrens Memorial Hospital in Chicago. He had been accepted as an astronaut (http://www.jsc.nasa.gov/Bios/htmlbios/satcher-rl.html). NASA recruited him to study bone loss in space. He only made it up on one shuttle. Very cool guy. American still has a few around.
Would have preferred the Bungles go with Ingram over Kirkpatrick @ 17. Zeitler looks solid...use the 3rd from Pats or a 4th and their 2nd to move up in 2nd to grab Jenkins instead. Smells like Pacman redux. :saywhat:

Weedon is there @ 37. Guarantee it. He's not worth #22 overall. Period. Rodgers was selected #24 overall and had 3-4 years to learn under an HoF QB. Weedon doesn't have that (time or the QB). And I still think Spielman pulled one over on the Clowns to get the deal.

Right. I knew when Ten. took Wright at 20, it was Plan B time.
That said, I'm not sold that, say KC, wouldn't have moved ahead of us for Weeden. I mean, h=ll, have you seen their QBS? Cassel, Lady Quinn and Stanzi. Weeden's got more game than all three combined.
BTW: Chiefs w/ Jamaal Charles- playoff team. W/o him: Awful. In certain cases, RB's can be valuable.

Friggin' Jim Brown would only get so many touches today.
Arguably the most important thing a running back in the NFL should do today is pick up the blitz, be able to catch passes, stay healthy, and not complain about sharing the job with 2-3 other players. Just my guess, but maybe 40% of the plays on offense have NO back in the backfield.
Sorry, but I'm not convinced this is an example of the proven draft strategy of taking the be player available -- though that might be the ONLY justification for it.

It all has to do with the supporting cast, and McBoy had none last season...and it appears Weeden won't either with the Clowns selecting a DT @ #87 in the 3rd. I'm wondering if they've locked Mike out of the room. Some are questioning passing on DeCastro for Zietler but they evidently had it graded out that way from the start. We'll have plenty of opportunity to find out who picked right on that one with DeCastro falling to the Steelers. Of course it also netted Brandon Thompson for them. Combined with Devon Still that could really bolster their Dline rotation that got pretty thin in the middle when Sims went down last year.

Arguably the most important thing a running back in the NFL should do today is pick up the blitz, be able to catch passes, stay healthy, and not complain about sharing the job with 2-3 other players. Just my guess, but maybe 40% of the plays on offense have NO back in the backfield.
Sorry, but I'm not convinced this is an example of the proven draft strategy of taking the be player available -- though that might be the ONLY justification for it.

He doesn't have anyone to share the load that's worth a ****. Their top 3 backs barely cracked 1100 yards, and the 4th leading rusher was McBoy. Kwality. Oh, and on their 13 picks...@ least two were spent on players that most had on the list as FAs (but @ least they didn't draft a P in the 3rd round like the Jags :laugh:). They can afford to take a chance on an undrafted CFA at this point. Linebacker is a need and he won't make it through camp if he's as bad as Mayock says.
High risk. Don't get it based on previous experience. Hell even guys like Simpson who supposedly has a heart of gold in the community **** up and pull stupid **** in Cincy. :shakehead

In a symbolic gesture, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers signed Rutgers defensive tackle Eric LeGrand, whose playing career was ended by a spinal cord injury, on Wednesday morning.
LeGrand played for Tampa Bay coach Greg Schiano at Rutgers. In a game Oct. 16, 2010, against Army, LeGrand suffered fractures of two vertebrae and a spinal cord injury.
Schiano called LeGrand's mother in New Jersey to let her know of his intention the night before breaking the news to his former player.

I'm late, and I'm sure you knew, but my second thought after hearing it was the incident when his car went over the cliff. With all the concussion talk lately, people overlook depression. Suicide isn't an easy decision to arrive at.
