Likely replacing TMS, which is fine by me. RMiller, FWIW, says Phoenix to open the 2013 season. Combined w/ rumors of MIS & RA returning, and, IMHO, you've got something. Yes, 15 wasted yrs. to get back to where we started, but so what?

been there. done that. got the t-shirt. [/champcar] :gomer:

Heh, but no. I mean PIR.
EDIT: Based on RB this morning, I think PIR is coming back. Also said Wed. announcement for Houston "premature."

American Open Wheel will be nothing but watching ugly, slow lumps of **** make 90 degree turns. Can't beat that for eggcitement. :gomer:

So what? I'm curious enough to come here to read about it all, but not even remotely curious enough to skip the zillionth repeat of Mythubsters to watch it. That's "so what."

I don't see how we're even in the same freaking GALAXY as "back to where we started", either.

2 yrs. ago, I'd have :laugh:at the idea. But the younger Mattiolis have repaved and made safety improvements. Why not?Yeah, why not. The place was built for open wheel Indy style racing. It really pushes the compromise with both drivers and machines of staightline speed and handling in three different corners. Not simply a matter of set ups. And it produced far better races than NASCAR ever has.
Way better than another cookie cutter like Chicago of Texas .

They need to put some fences up there. I ran Skip barber cars there in 2004. With no fences at the beginning of the day they pointed that out "There are no fences on the banked turns here, so if you guys race too close someone is getting scraped up out of the parking lot."

The first Houston circuit in the late 1990s wasn't THAT bad. Not good by any means.
The second Houston circuit in CCWS's dying years was awful.
This one looks like it has street parade written all over it. Where is one supposed to pass on this POS?

That's been changed in the last couple years. And it's newly paved.
Rex, I was just mocking the "IRL to Phoenix" rumor. ;)

let's go "back" to Denver :gomer:You make a good point. If you wait 5 or 10 years all the city counsel members that you fleeced for any of these street festivals will be gone, and you can do it all over again.

There was a great IMSA GTP race at one of those Houston tracks. I think it was James Weaver in an ancient 962 holding off Jags, Nissans and Yodas while bouncing off the walls.:thumbup:
Now that the IRL is abandoning all that it was, one question remains.
What is their attitude toward beach volleyball?

I'm surprised nobody has commented on Miller's statement on Windbag that Austin is supposedly wanting a .1RL race in '13 for three races in Texas. I seriously doubt the Earl wants a direct lap time comparison with F1...
I don't think that one in the black shirt and jeans is a lesbian!
