Seriously, you realize now your engines suck and 2 teams are left holding the ball?
Honda and Chevy have already said they can't support more teams. I guess MSR and Paul Tracy are just never showing up.
Interested to see how this shitshow plays out.

Michel Jourdain Jr is going to drive for Rahal Letterman at Indy:saywhat::rolleyes:
“Lotus in IndyCar is like David versus Goliath,” Berro said. “We are and always will be a niche British sports car company built for the few, not the many. That said, I’m delighted with our solution and I can assure everybody that the actions were taken after careful consideration and will assist in ensuring the brand’s high racing ambitions and the high expectations of the IndyCar community are realized.”
Bwahahhaaha! Goliath is kicking some serious ***.:p This is GRATE news for the IRL! Should solidly cement (shoe) the Indy 500!

INDYCAR will work with Bryan Herta Autosport and Dreyer & Reinbold Racing during the transition to either the Chevrolet or Honda engine for the Open Test at Texas Motor Speedway, the Indianapolis 500 and beyond.
So assuming they can actually get a Chevy or Honda engines, Herta and D&R see this as a pretty good thing, right? Got to be happier than the remaining Lotus teams. ;)

Man, that pic sure had to pizzle a bunch of gomers back when it was taken. That's right where it all started to go wrong for them.
And its exactly where it really started to capture my and many others attention.

I think that was already a forgone conclusion. :( My manager has contacts on the team, and they were not optimistic about getting a lump for the 497.5.
UPDATE: MSR apparently has Howard signed and is working on a deal with Chevy.

And its exactly where it really started to capture my and many others attention.I was just a kid when that picture was taken and I long assumed the innovation in that car, and international competitors was SUPPOSED to be much of what Indy is about.
I was hugely confused by the 1979 USAC dust up. I absolutely was bewildered when TG formed the IRL, but just figured it was a usual business power play that would be settled by hard nosed rational economic thinking.
It really wasn't until the Internet that I had unfiltered access to the true Gomerriffic world view and a full appreciation. And I've gone to all type of races all over the country. I lived in MI for a long time and had true Midwesterner parents. There simply is nothing like pure gomercentric place fans. I simply couldn't conceive of that much simple, provincial stupid... Especially in a sport and business that by design and nature is supposed to be a meritocracy of the highest order.

Three thumbs up for DagoFast for not only the photo, but what it all meant.
And to Andrew for capturing the characteristics of the people from the province.
:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:
Are those the spinner wheel nuts that extend out at the push of a button and shred competitors tires?
BTW, how about those green jumpsuits.. with no undershirts even!!
nice photo. A Beautiful & proper race car.
To do this day, I can't believe those mirrors worked. :gomer:

Well, "those mirrors" did not work. That mirror (right side only) apparently was sufficient for Mr. Clark. AJ probably needed two :gomer:
Fantastic picture. It has always amazed me that gomers tried to "fix" something in the 1990s that they lost in the 1960s. I guess it is too late, but they really need to stop playing with the space-time continuum.
Andrew, not really about IndyCar but your elegant post explains in part why I moved to the northeast 25 years ago this upcoming Thursday. I can't take all the midwest out of me (don't really want to; perspective is good to have) but I damned well could take me out of the midwest.

"Breaking that contract with the series is expected to carry a significant financial penalty." Blood from a turnip? Hope Indycar isn't looking to this 'significant' penalty to shore up its finances. :shakehead

Making engine companies sign a supply contract with the sanctioning body in an era of engine competition is to my mind completely ludicrous...

All (serious) series with official MFR involvement have contracts.
So, which Lotus is/was this, anyway? Good Lotus? Bad Lotus? Old Lotus? New Lotus? Lotus Racing? Team Lotus. Same as F -1 Lotus? Seriously, who makes a "Lotus" IndyCar engine? Flown in from the UK? A new factory in Indy!?

Tont Fernandes changed his team to Caterham but kept the dark green/yellow livery. There's only one Lotus now.
