View Full Version : RIP MCA
Hip-hop pioneer and Beastie Boys icon Adam Yauch has lost his battle with cancer at the age of 47.
The rapper, also known as MCA, died on Friday, according to GlobalGrind.com.
Yauch was diagnosed with a tumor in his salivary gland in 2009 and underwent surgery and radiation therapy treatment. He also adopted a strict vegan diet and turned to ancient Chinese medicines to help him beat the disease.

Sad - didn't know he was sick. :(
One of the few groups that always seemed to be having a blast when performing.

Been meaning to pick up the their last album for a while, unfortunately it will be the last original studio album. My favorite group, so it is a sad day for me :(.
I had two consecutive Beastie Boys related tweets in my timeline (neither mentioned the actual news) before #RIPMCA hit trending topics. I tried to convince myself there was good news being announced to coincide with the Rock n Roll Hall ceremony broadcast but deep down I knew better and a quick Google search proved what I knew deep down.
I barely listened to another artist through the middle of my high school years. Glad I got to see them live a couple times.
Dear Cancer,
F**** YOU.

Before Kanye there was Nathanial Hornblower...
Super def rhymes aside, the greatest thing about the late Adam Yauch was his ability to somehow balance earnest activism with heaping doses of wacky-ass ********. Sure, he founded a non-profit dedicated to the liberation of Tibet, but he also interrupted R.E.M.’s acceptance speech at the 1994 MTV Music Video Awards dressed in lederhosen and a fake beard so he could angrily declare that George Lucas had ripped him off. That’s true artistry right there. Adios, Nathanial Hörnblowér. We’ll miss you dearly.

I didn't even know that happened. Who would vote against the Sabatoge video?
Fitting that he passed on Star Wars Day. :)
