This is very disappointing.:(
HERE (http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&ncid=799&e=1&cid=795&u=/eo/20030113/en_music_eo/11109) is a link to the story. Sounds like, if he's telling the truth, this might be out of proportion. I want to believe that, anyway.

It's past disappointing.
I'm not sure if Pete thinks we're all daft, if Pete's dafter than I think he is, or the UK government is just making an example of him... or what.
But it's a bummer.
When Michael Jackson got accused of it, I wasn't shocked.
But this is a guy who does a yearly benefit for a children's shelter in Chicago.
 :(
I'd love to believe Pete, but I have a hard time believing that one who is SO against kiddie porn would ever give their credit card # and therefore finance those who are making it. I hope I'm wrong, I'd hate to see one of Rock n Rolls greatest axe men tarnished for life by this.

Rough boys
Don't walk away
I very nearly missed you
Tough boys
Come over here
I wanna bite and kiss you
Rough boys
Don't walk away
I wanna buy you leather
Make noise
Try and talk me away
We can't be seen together
Tough kids
What can I do?
I'm so pale and weedy
Rough fits
In my Hush Puppy shoes
But I'm still pleadin'
Tough boys
Running the streets
Come a little closer
Rough toys
Under the sheets
Nobody knows her
Rough boys
Don't walk away
I very nearly missed you
Tough boys
Come over here
I wanna bite and kiss you
I really hope there's nothing to this whole mess.

I'm your wicked Uncle Ernie
I'm glad you won't see or hear me
As I fiddle about
Fiddle about
Fiddle about !
Your mother left me here to mind you
Now I'm doing what I want to
Fiddling about
Fiddling about
Fiddle about!
Down with the bedclothes
Up with the nightshirt!
Fiddle about
Fiddle about
Fiddle about !
You won't shout as I fiddle about
Fiddle about
Fiddle about
Fiddle about !
Fiddle, fiddle, fiddle.
Forgive my youthful ignorance, but are those really Who? lyrics, and if so, could anybody possibly be surprised by this?
I for one couldn't care less about rock "stars" or actors and their arrogant, self-righteous attitudes. I am more concerned for the kids victimized by this pervert.

The first song is a Pete Townsend song. The second is a Who song.

WXRT Chicago's morning guy, Lin Brehmer always tries to play something topical after the news in the morning. They covered the Townsend story this morning then played "The Kids Are Alright".
....immediately followed by a Pretenders song, then the Beatles, I assume,.... that station used to be so good when it was independently owned....I've always liked Townshends solo stuff better than the anything the Who did, let's hope this situation isn't true.

As a matter of fact, they DID play a Beatles song just after that. :D
I listened all night from 8pm until just now, and was just discussing how much the station has changed with a co-worker. You're exactly right. The Big Beat is about all that's left. Remember Rock Over London? Great show - gone.

So, if he is guilty does that mean that we get rid of all of his solo albums, or do the Who albums have to go as well?

You can pry Tommy and Who's Next from my cold, dead fingers.

FWIW, your handle is also the nickname of the Who's touring keyboardist.
