View Full Version : If a race happens in Toronto...
Rumour has it there is a MindyCar race here with qualifying starting tomorrow. Haven't heard/read jack about it all week in the media. With the exception of the traffic reports on the radio informing of the closure of several lanes on Lakeshore Blvd. As little as 10 years ago there was wall to wall coverage on TV starting from the Monday before the race. The Toronto Star and Sun had Molson Indy pull out sections every day leading up to the race.
The only coverage the earl got in the last few years they desecrated the streets of Exhibition Place was all about PT.
I am only about 45 minutes away from the track. My next door neighbor works for Honda Canada. Every year since the crapwagons showed up he offered me full passes. Turned him down every time. This year he said "I'm not going this year either, those cars are an eyesore."

Really glad I went back when there was a little of the 'Toronto Indy' left.
If I lived as close as you, I'd go. :runs:

Report of 4 crew members down on pit lane.
The Buffalo News (http://www.buffalonews.com/sports/24-sports-news/article937123.ece) (via the AP) is reporting that Wilson & Bourdais collided which then set off a festival of flying crew members. Two treated & released at the track care center, two taken to the hospital with leg/foot injuries.
The past couple of years, race organizers and/or tourism Toronto had done media buys in the Buffalo DMA promoting ticket and hotel packages. This year, nothing. If it wasn't for a Twitter acquaintance that works in Toronto pointing out that the track was being constructed outside of her office, I would have forgotten that there was a race this weekend.

SOmewon needs to tell them damed CAnmadians where thre right place is to hide while at the track
The crowd looks a bit thin outside, but that's because people are (wisely) hiding in the air conditioned Direct Energy Centre.
it is only 84F there whats the big deal, it's 106 here
I wouldn't get out of an electric chair to go see them "indycars".
