Hi-Def TV Question

A few months ago I purchased a Samsung 46" hi-def TV. I would like to improve the sound but have no space for a home theatre system. I am looking into a sound bar type device.

The Bose Solo (http://www.bose.ca/controller?url=/promotions/entry_pages/solo/solo_tpl.jsp&src=K1643&dssourceid=K1643) looks iteresting in that it goes under the TV stand.

An experience out there with sound bars in general? Does Bose have a good reputation?

Bose has a reputation for being over priced, among other things. :) Although when I met my wife she had one of their table radios that sounded great.

A recent issue of Home Theater or Sound and Vision magazine had tests of budget priced sound bars.

Bose will sound excellent, but you pay for the brand name quite a bit.

I bought my father-in-law a Yamaha bar, but also considered the JBL with wireless subwoofer.

Thanks much to Ted for the question and and for these answers. I had looked at AVS forum and (you can imagine) decided I'd wait to make a purchase. KLang's article is about my speed, in tech and price range.

They are a helpful bunch. You can post questions like, I'm considering these options for a room that is this size. And people will really be helpful. Asking "What is the best soundbar?", not so much. :)
