Lindy Ruff will be named the Stars head coach 14 years and one day after No Goal. I can't wait to hear Lindy's quip on this one.

ETA: On a serious note, the Calgary Saddledome is underwater due to massive flooding. The water is currently up to Row 10 of the arena and the locker rooms and jumbotron control rooms are submerged.

A fantastic series. Exhausting to watch. Almost as exhausting as to play.

I thought it would go seven but it ended appropropriately. One team finally blinked.

NHL playoffs are the best of all sports IMO

Epic series. And to think that the talking had the 'hawks written off after the game 3 SO. In the end it was an epic choke by the Broons that only <insert Cleveland team name here> could match. :D :gomer:

This - didn't really have a favorite in this series. And either team was capable of winning it all. It was down to who was going to seriously stumble first.

Time to commence the baseball avoidance system on the the TV now.

That was a darn good series. Now onto draft/trade/buyout/FA insanity!

Buffalo cannot match the range of choke Cleveland has achieved (NFL, NBA, MLB). Plus, Buffalo takes it to a level typical Cleveland fan can never comprehend: The Super Bowl (x4). :gomer: The Seahawks and Cardinals have made it to the Super Bowl. Need I say more? :D

Now, on to off-season fun....the CBJ and Bob are @ an impasse. The KHL has been mentioned. :\ I've seen too many John Davidson CBJ promos during the Stanley Cup Playoffs for this to happen. :saywhat: The local radio yahoos were shooting their mouths off yesterday about using this year's draft as leverage against Bob. :irked: :shakehead The talent pool in this draft is being compared to 2003, which eclipsed '79 as the best draft ever, and the CBJ are stocked with picks. However, the honeymoon period for the new management team will be short if they start the season like the past few and commence yet another rebuilding phase. CBJ Nation collectively holds its breath...one bad move this off season, and the CBJ will be the KCBJ sooner rather than later. :(

EDIT: IMO, Holmgren screwed the pooch on this with Bernier being traded to the Laffs. He would have been a decent acquisition for a #1 G. Mason is a solid backup @ best unless he can return to ROY form, which seems unlikely based on his performance the past 2-3 seasons. 6 GS @ the end of the season doth not make a season or a good bet on future performance.

I saw a rumor today that suggested that the Phylers were either going to make an offer sheet for Bob or were going to wheel and deal with Buffalo for Miller.

As for Phylers goalies, Briere damned them all with faint praise by saying that Biron was the most normal one.

I can't decide whether Bergeron is a tough mother for playing through those injuries or just plain nuts. Most normal people would be in severe pain (and doped up on enough pain meds to put down an elephant) and there he goes playing hockey.

I guy a guy reporting to me a few years ago. Tough SOB (or he just had a very thick skull). He did cave diving (scuba), learned to fly, and later began doing motocross. Anyway, he was out with a few of his buddies from our department up @ Put-in-Bay and managed to fall on the boat and cracked a rib. He had trouble just breathing for more than a week afterwards, and that was after he had a few days off after they airlifted him, and then allowed him to travel back to Cbus. :saywhat:

Hadn't heard the Phlyers angle on Bob, but I wouldn't put it past them. Bob is an RFA, so he can't go anywhere but the KHL w/o the CBJ being able to match the offer. I can't imagine the Phlyers have much room under the cap, but I could be wrong after all of the trades they made last season (Richards, Carter, etc.).

-KevinSo you approve of the Bruins long held style of play and the ridiculous fixation of their fans on "diving"? I am all for physical play but be like the Broad Street Bullies and be unabashed about it and proudly tell people you will kick their ass and take your penalty.

And Jon grew up not far from me in Lawrence. I am pretty sure he played some hockey. Pretty much we all did.

As for Bergeron's ribs, no doubt he is a tough hombre. About 30+ years ago I pushed my dad's car out of a ditch I had put it in after a bit too much vodka. In my panic and condition I found super human strength which lifted the car out but broke a bunch of ribs and tore cartilage. To this day if I breath deep or move a certain way it hurts. But then again I never went to a doctor, never missed a day of work, and played a football game a few days later. YMMV :gomer:

Lecavalier being bought out @ TB.

Lecavalier, 33, has seven years and $45 million left on his deal, which carries a $7.72 million yearly cap hit.

Tampa will have to pay Lecavalier $32.67 million in the buyout, a source told ESPN.com, which includes an $8 million bonus that had to be paid out in full. The remaining salary is paid out at two-thirds, $24.67 million over the next 14 years.

Ouch. According to the local CBJ/hockey scribe, there is luke warm interest by other teams to acquire him (mainly due to cap issues).

For Sale: One slightly used Vezina-winning G. Does a great Statue of Liberty pose based on his '12 playoff performance with the Phlyers. However, he managed to stand on his head for the CBJ last season, despite a suspect D most of the season. Will accept your tired, hungry, poor, huddled masses and five-hole challenged Gs.

I haven't heard anything up here to that effect; but then again, Darcy runs an incredibly tight ship. Based on Capgeek's numbers, it looks like CBJ has the room for Vanek's 7.1 million cap hit, but he is a UFA at the end of next year. I would love to have Foligno as part of a return package because the Sabres can use a good center and we could have the market on Folignos cornered.

CBJ deal a center? Don't hold your breath. And Foligno is a LW by trade, and we only have two of those on the roster. How about a slightly used G and a bag full of gently used athletic cups? We have a few leftover from Adam Foote, who didn't have the necessary anatomy to use them. ;)

Let Xmas in June begin! Bob still not signed. Check. CBJ have 4 picks in the top 44. Check. CBJ sure to waste said picks on trades or draft picks for players that will perpetually underachieve. Check. Reference, Zherdev, Filatov, Mason, Brule, Pazzy 'the bucktoothed G' LeClaire, Alexandre Picard... In 13 drafts, they have drafted one, ONE, bonafide star (Nash), three that still have some potential (Voracek, Brassard and Moore), and one journeyman D (Klesla) who has perfected the art of not completing a full season due to injury. The jury is still out on Johansen and Murray. Note that of that list, only two are still on the current roster. TWO. :saywhat:
