View Full Version : Richard Hammond to Indycar?
Apparently he was a crew member for Katherine Legge's car at Sonoma this year. Don't know which show it was for or when it will be on tv.

Katherine started 19th and retired early with a shifter problem finishing 24th. No word if Richard Hammond was responsible. ;)

Promoting it on Richard Hammond's "Crash Course" on BBC America. Too lazy to look up the air date :gomer:

The show is pretty good, at least my son really likes it.
It is on Monday night on BBC America at 10pm eastern.
He just did stunt man. There will also be cattle rancher, taxi driver, barber, stand up comic, IndyCar pit crew and snake wrangler among others.
Kinda like "Dirty Jobs" for the effete?

Okay so that was different. He actually crewed during the race, left front tire changer. Says something about the state of the series that it was even conceivable. There was much hyperbole about Indycar but you would expect that. They had Mario drive him around in the two-seater which clearly isn't too well set up as Hammond was commenting on how you can feel the car sliding about fighting for grip. Katherine Legge came across as more stressed than you might expect and I'm not sure that she was too thrilled about being guinea-pigged for the show. She started 19th and the transmission failed before half way and that was the race that Bourdais lost it and totaled the car bouncing off the green car (don't remember who it was). It was interesting I guess but truth be told those cars just looked slow.

Was that two seater an old Reynard dressed up to look like a DW12?
The nose cone didn't look like it came from an Indycar.
I think they switched Hammond to Legge's car after Bourdais qualified third. His crew chief looked nervous. :D
I watched a bit on the DVR this AM.
I know he needs to talk up the series to promote his own show - but the IRL isn't remotely as popular as he insinuates.
