Magic Slim, one of my Blues favorites passed away this week. I'm happy to have seen a couple of times. He played the Thirsty Ear in Columbus which was an odd mix of regulars, blues fans, and college kids. The Thirsty Ear didn't have much of a bandstand anyway so he ended up pulling up a stool by the bar and playing from there for much of the evening. I still remember the grin on his face as some of the college girls danced around him.
