View Full Version : Le Mans 2013
June 22-23
The "Garage 56" entry for this year has withdrawn. The team says its hydrogen fuel cell is not quite ready. The looks of the car could also use some work, or a lot of night races. On the upside, another Porsche will be able to compete in the GTE-Pro category.

So, a hybrid full of batteries t-bones that thing right in the tank...that IS a fuel tank hanging off the driver's hip, isn't it?...I see a mushroom cloud forming over LeMans that can be seen in Paris!

Careful, if the ICONIC committee sees this it may end up being the next Indy Car.:)

Form follows function? I guess not.
Say, nice air scoop. Looks like something right out of "River Monsters!"
Is it an Aussie design? That upper lip looks somewhat familiar.:gomer:
I'll admit to having no taste, but that thing is god-awful!
I think the car was shamed into withdrawing.
It's a gilled hippopotamus approaching the diving platform.

FAIL
The French would probably love it though.
Looking forward to watching Kamui Kobayashi drive the #71 Ferrari 458 Italia GT car for the AF Corse team.
Wow. It even has an "Impact" sign on the side, to show other cars where to aim!
Thats a photoshop, right? Please!?
How much LSD did the Garage 56 selection committee take before they approved that disaster?

They started with this:

And then from there, things kinda got outta hand...

The updated Sportscar version of that awful Ligier from the 1970's

It looks like a Hollywood rendition of the next Batmobile. :yuck:

What, no comments about the mirrors?
Sorry, but that looks like something out of the next Speed Racer movie... Or Dallara.

I had a bad feeling when no one was talking about Simonsen's medical condition after the wreck. :( RIP

Tragic to lose such a good guy like Allan. I had the pleasure of talking to him on a number of occasions when he was running in Australian GT. I remember one particular day at Wakefield Park he recognised me and we had a bit of a laugh. He'd won a stack of races in a row and he commented that he was running out of places to put the lead in the Ferrari 360 he was running. This car was built to the old N-GT spec and there was another 360 that was more production based and had solid doors. He told me with this dead serious face that he was gonna ask to swap a door or two with them to make the new weight.
I thought Jacky Ickx's words honoring Simonsen prior to the award ceremony was a nice touch. I also liked Allan McNish's comment that it was fitting the 'old guys' won since the race turned 90 this year.

Next year. And now the Wang is electric.

I saw that! Get out the big rubber gloves, boys! And the first FIVE cars in P2 were Nissan powered? Getting serious, aren't they?:)

No real surprise given they had about 90% of the lmp2 field...
