Lots of conflicting reports, but this is on the local news :(
NASCAR Driver Killed in Crash at Local Speedway (http://www.nbcphiladelphia.com/news/local/NASCAR-Driver-in-Critical-After-Crash-at-Local-Speedway-211313661.html)
Was reporting critical, but latest updates indicating he has died.

Wow - whenever this happens, it doesn't matter who the driver is or what the series is. It sucks.

Very sad, RIP. I love motor racing but it sucks when things like this happen.

Just floored me when I saw this this morning. He was from nearby Long Beach, CA and used to race with us on wed nights at Go Kart World in Carson in the mid 90s, I do remember seeing him there. One of ours is gone and it hurts.

Reading last week's papers over the weekend, I saw an article about how hard this hit Parnelli Jones who still has a garage here. He was Leffler's mentor.

Racing safety expert Bill Simpson, who has designed racing safety equipment throughout his career, and former driver Randy LaJoie, who designs racecar seats, studied the crash and told ESPN.com that a 180-degree surround headrest might have saved Leffler at the 0.625-mile dirt track.
