Some youthful CART enthusiast has been doing quite a bit of insider reporting on the League he claims he doesn't like or watch Here (http://www.ibj.com/the-score-2013-06-19-indycar-trailing-far-behind-nascar-f1-in-social-media-outreach/PARAMS/post/42001)

I can't WAIT to see somebody draw a specific and irrefutable line between social media and advertising effectiveness.

Time to bust out the popcorn and read through this...

This gem from the article itself:

On Facebook, IndyCar has almost 148,000 likes, compared to NASCAR’s 3.4 million-plus. Formula One, inexplicably, isn’t active with an official Facebook page. Chalk up another lost opportunity for the world's biggest motorsports circuit.

Lost opportunity for what??

You mean the H-G clan is not cold calling through Persian Gulf phone books? That's the big fish they need. Some dope with more money than sense to overpay for the old speedplant.

1 of the mower innersting facts CHief pointed out is

TV ratings down 45% from 2011

TV ratings have been trending down in recent years. DOWN 27% from 2011 to 2012, DOWN 24% 2012 to 2013

...none of that means anything as long as they open E Stand for practice, quals, bump day, carb day and the thing that gave AOW it's birth and launched AJ Sammich loose on hoagies and killer bees, the Indy Five Hunedred. :gomer:

NASCAR spending 400 million to renovate Daytona. What did the IRL spend 400 million on? LULZ

not that I really give a crap, but just what is the illustrious .1RL doing for their big promotional opportunity of the July 4 weekend?

The only .1RL news I've seen is Mario wanting to do a 24 hour race with his descendants
And Mario was riding a snail - https://pbs.twimg.com/media/BMR41_vCAAASTEp.jpg:large
That's the follow up to highly successful CarTown promotion which CHief is intimately familiar with

It will be a train wreck liek this http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2357352/Breaking-news-Canadian-town-center-wiped-freight-train-carrying-hundreds-tons-crude-oil-derails-explodes.html

As an adult who has been visiting IMS in person since 1959 I remain apprehensive about such appointments given the deterioration of the physical plant since Belskus began counting beans with fervor after they threw Tony out. Most IMS/IndyCar appointments consist primarily of shuffling good old boys around. Outsiders may last a year or two before they leave. What matters to me the most is someone who cares passionately about the place, its mystique and the condition in which it is kept. For the past few years the condition has become deplorable. They no longer landscape or mow the grass with necessary frequency. The main parking lot visitors see when visiting the museum is filled with potholes, cracks and broken pavement. The sidewalk to the museum is not much better. As I walked down pit road this year toward the S/F line the same lack of meaningful maintenance is easily spotted. In more than one restroom this year raw sewage leaks out of pipes again. The track is starting to blend in with the ghettos that now surround it on almost three sides. Whose responsibility is it to stop such deterioration? If it's Boles he has his work cut out for him, particularly given the Belskus penchant for not spending any money on anything. IMS has fallen well behind most other big time tracks in terms of amenities and access and that situation must be corrected now. Doug has his work cut out for him. I think (and hope) he gets it but his actions will speak loudly.
