You know, we all have to have it, lest we blurt out something dumb/inappropriate in the wrong situations. It's how the world works, right?
It does, unless you're a certain uber-A-lister. (http://www.buzzfeed.com/emilyhennen/listen-to-jennifer-lawrence-tell-a-story-about-butt-plugs)* In which case, not having a filter (or one that doesn't always work) makes The Entire Internet fall madly in love w/ you.;)
I admit, I find her, and the reaction to her, the most fascinating pop culture story in yrs. At this point, video of her kicking a puppy could appear, and the reaction would be, "What did the dog do to poor Jen?"
*Might be slightly NSFW.

That the items in question were a joke gift to her makes the story repeatable.
And funny too.

Forgot to mention the... bed-wetting tale. (http://pagesix.com/2013/12/19/jennifer-lawrence-jokes-about-awkward-teen-years/?utm_campaign=SocialFlow&utm_source=NYPTwitter&utm_medium=SocialFlow)
By her own account, she was a tad odd as a kid. Mostly, I think she was socially awkward, not anxiety.
I never recommend running the HVAC w/o a filter. :gomer:
I also do not recommend speaking to the female species w/o a filter. Ever.

Paying attention to celebrities. How quaint. :tony:
I think Jennifer Lawrence is great. What's not to like? She's a smart , funny, beautiful Midwestern girl - kind of like the one I married. :)

Paying attention to celebrities. How quaint. :tony:
99% of the time, I'd be right w/ you, but what's happening with/to her fascinates me. True, I'm only 30, but I've never seen a celeb. (esp. a young celeb.) this beloved, almost as much for their off-screen exploits as the on-screen talent.* And that's saying a lot, since she'll get another Oscar nom. this year (3 in 4 years!). It's funny how many times I've read variations of "This young generation in Hollywood is terrible... except for Jennifer Lawrence."
The cynic in me isn't sure whether to give her and her PR team props on this or to scratch my head wondering why no one else figured it out earlier. The non-cynic in me doesn't care.
*To wit, let's review... her weekend. First, she's named AP Entertainer of the Year. (http://bigstory.ap.org/article/lawrence-beats-cyrus-netflix-top-entertainer) (Sidenote: I'm troubled that way too many people think twerking and sticking your tongue out makes you culturally important, but I digress). Then, well, she does this. (http://www.uproxx.com/webculture/2013/12/jennifer-lawrence-paid-a-surpise-visit-to-a-childrens-hospital-in-kentucky/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=twitter&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+uproxx%2Ffeatures+%28Uproxx%2 9)
If she's not genuine then she deserves another Oscar for seeming so. We'll see if she can avoid getting sucked into the Hollywood cesspool of narcissism and self-importance.
Celebrities are just people. Maybe I'm stating the obvious, but aside from having a particular talent that we value, they're generally not as special as we make them out to be. Unfortunately, once you achieve a state of celebrity and you're surrounded by sycophants, hangers-on, and an adoring public it's really tough to keep touch with reality.

The thing that I like about her is that she KNEW it was going to be covered by the media, but instead of wearing designer clothes and being styled with perfect hair and makeup, she shows up in a wrinkled plaid shirt, mom jeans (at least by their appearance) and what looks like Keds. How sad that "normal" is now so unusual that it has to be reported like this.

Actually, she apparently did not tell the hospital she was coming (w/ her parents, BTW). All pictures appear to be from families and hospital staff. Which kinda makes it better.

Here's a really cynical take. (http://www.vulture.com/2013/12/jennifer-lawrence-katniss-ing-us.html)
I'm fine w/ cynicism, BTW. Stupidity, OTOH... B/c Katniss SUCKS at "acting," whereas, if it is an act, Lawrence is a genius.
Like I said, Oscar worthy...

Yes, I know, but as a celebrity, she had to know those candids taken by families who were there would be publicized and she still didn't care.

But that would be everything a celebrity ever does? I think the difference is telegraphing the appearance.
Must be the off-season as we wrestle with TMZ-like celebrity issues. ;):saywhat:

Bump just to post this (http://uproxx.com/webculture/2014/12/jennifer-lawrence-took-time-to-visit-kids-in-the-icu-on-christmas-eve/), not a repost from last yr. BTW: There's a picture of her w/ a newborn in neonatal that's kind of amazing.
True story- search word I used to find this thread: butt.;)
