Egon, this reminds me of the time you tried to drill a hole through your head. You remember that?”
“That would have worked if you hadn’t stopped me.”

RIP Harold.

Last year I happened upon Groundhogs Day by chance and watched it the first time in maybe 15 or 20 years and I was amazed at how really good that film is.

Statement from the President on the Passing of Harold Ramis

Michelle and I were saddened to hear of the passing of Harold Ramis, one of America’s greatest satirists, and like so many other comedic geniuses, a proud product of Chicago’s Second City. When we watched his movies – from “Animal House” and “Caddyshack” to “Ghostbusters” and “Groundhog Day” – we didn’t just laugh until it hurt. We questioned authority. We identified with the outsider. We rooted for the underdog. And through it all, we never lost our faith in happy endings. Our thoughts and prayers are with Harold’s wife, Erica, his children and grandchildren, and all those who loved him, who quote his work with abandon, and who hope that he received total consciousness.

Well played.

Ghostbusters was the best, but like Napoleon said, Groundhog Day is really awesome as well. They pay great attention to details you don't even think of - like when Phil meets Ned on the street day-after-day, they go through the trouble to make sure it's the same cars passing by, the same people walking on the streets in the same positions. Great directing. In fact fact, if any of you are into Director's commentaries, Groundhog Day is a great listen.

But yeah, sad day. RIP :(

Good question. I'll investigate. The "youtube" tag was a manual add-on from the old version that I replicated in this release to keep old links working. The video link in the new editor creates the officially supported BBCODE when you paste in the entire video URL.

I saw it last month for the first time in a long time and had the same reaction. It actually has a pretty important message.

I was very sad this morning to hear of his passing.

The house is for sale again. I think they're asking $980k.

The Woodstock Opera House that's the "Pennsylvania Hotel" (and that Murray jumps off of) is a cool place to see a (small) concert, too.

Been to a couple of plays there. It was like watching an "OK" high-school production, but with extra pompousity.

Supporting local theater is a nice concept.

It actually has a pretty important message.

After I saw the movie last year I did some on-line reading and apparently working on that film was what lead to the fall out between Ramis and Murray where they never talked again. Murray wanted to make his part and the message of the movie be deeper then what Ramis wanted and it lead to serious disagreements as to how the movie was to be done, on basically a daily basis (oh and I guess Murray was going through a divorce and was just generally an a-hole around then). You can just imagine Murray saw himself doing something other then the slimy lounge singer on SNL or Carl the Groundskeeper the rest of his career. Anyways the Ground Hogs Day you see was the product of that. It actually works both as a comedy and something more.

Fortunately, I've avoided plays and have only been there to see Leo Kottke twice.

And it's POMPOSITY. How gauche. :shakehead: :D

The closest I got to seeing grown up theater was going to see Joe Frank at the Steppenwolf on March 1st, but I had to cancel.

[ontopic] I'd rank Ramis' "No, but we're willing to learn." as one of the greatest movie lines ever.
