This is a good article about golf in Minnesota and it's recent decline in interest. I am not a fan of golf, so I had no idea how big it got and then how precipitously it has come back to Earth. How this article is written, it sounds a lot like what happened with Nascar.

What a dire article. I only go to page 2 and had given up.

I not a member of the golf or country club set but I hear from those that are here in SoCal that the country clubs that used to charge $5,000 to enter and $5,000 a year (or more) are now down to $1,500. The once-hefty Food & Beverage requirements are very low also. One cannot discount the "Tiger effect" and, here in SoCal, the drought. Links that are not watered by recycled water are starting to show the strain.
