Meh. It's pretty much like all new website designs (nbcnews, bbc, cnn) which are, it would appear, trying to maximize user experience across all platforms. I think they all suck royally, but I don't think we will be going back to the grand old days of simple designs and no embedded video.

They ruined why I use the site. Top headlines. Now my browser window has to be wide enough to get it. I also don't like the endless scrolling design. I'm not sure if I'll get used to it or if I'm moving on to a new source for headlines. My litmus test is usability, and like the F1 site, this makes it "harder" for me to use to find/read what i want.
I was hoping it was an April Fools day joke (like Amazon).

What did Amazon do? Disney circles were abuzz with Cindy's Castle being renamed to Elsa. :gomer: :D

http://www.amazon.com/ initially loads as a 1999 version (image). When you click it goes away.

Nice that they feature a book on Sid Finch.
I like my 'feed' on the right side. Now I have to scroll all the way down. They moved my cheese. :(

Lol Kevin. "Not to derail, but TOTALLY DERAIL"
For those that crave a site that has sports headlines, try news.google.com sports section. You can customize it to the sports and teams you want and it's just a straight headlines grab from thousands of sources. I find it hard to go back to the main page of SI or ESPN because of the limited headlines and the infinite scrolling through pictures of LeBron and the nutjob who thinks his wife is a trained assassin.

It's my thread... ;)
I may have to go back to My Google. I REALLY do not like the new UI. Keep in mind I spent 20+ years in Web dev, QA, and UI designs. We built sites with the understanding that 'speed kills'. Also note that CompuServe was on the Web in 1996. We bought this company called Spry, and the rest was history. FYI, we re-branded their version of Mosaic as NetJet....some browser created in a college in Illinois.
NOW we are officially off the rails. :)

It just seems ESPN has declared 1024 width dead for the desktop. Headlines pop in at ~1100. I don't like my browser window in full screen on a high resolution display. I really only like my applications full screen when they contribute to productivity. Most sites were fine at 1024x768. What's the "new" minimum window size for the web? 1280x960? 1280x800? 1280x720?

I think the going rate is 12x9. I varies by UI/Designer. It's like art, politics, and religion....they all have opinions on what looks 'right'. :saywhat:

Well their coverage of MLS is a complete joke, the site is just useless to me.

Anybody an expert with Javascript, HTML5, CSS, and willing to listen to MY opinion on what looks right? I'm hiring (for my company).
(telecommuters not allowed, sorry.)
Which rail are we on now?
Some would say we are on the middle rail now................
