I hate this ****. Too many peeps I know have been affected/died from this. Beat it.

Finally saw the Ken Burns documentary on cancer. I was impressed at all the progress the medical field has made on fighting cancer. There are so many ways to treat it now, including drug combinations, injecting massive amounts of T-cells, and immunotherapy.
The doctors were circumspect though. They all talked about how cancer evolves to defeat the therapies.
It reminded me of debugging computer code to remove a glitch, only to find another glitch.
Frustrating, but not scary.

Hard to read that. But so important for people to know that you don't die the day of diagnosis. I have friend who was diagnosed nearly 8 years ago with neuroblastoma. Life expectancy is 3 years maximum. He's in hospice care now but still goes out the beach for barbecues with his family. God bless them all. I can hardly imagine having that much courage.
A gentleman who once reported to me (I don't like the term boss) has a boy ~8 now. He has been fighting Neuroblastoma since he was 2. Watched my former FIL die with another form of C. Just painful to watch. Insidious. Invasive. Kill. It. Now. :\

Progress, yes. Success, no. I watched my FIL (who was my adopted father) slowly die over 6 mos. Simply sickening. 'Something for Joey' is one of my fave reads when I was a grasshopper.
What's the Ken Burns doco named? I watch everything Ken Burns (I have baseball and the Civil War in my DVD collection) , but missed this one.

If anyone can opine as to why I can open the link from gerhard911, I would appreciate it. All I get is Windows Media Player cannot open this flie. Sorry to hijack the thread but the new hard drive seems to be missing a few bits and bytes.
(Took me 2 hours to realize they had not installed the Adobe Flash as I had requested. :saywhat: )

Gal, try VLC Media Player https://www.videolan.org/vlc/. It should install a browser plugin that will open the link. If not, copy the link location and with the VLC player open select Media / Open Network Stream and paste the link there.

Whew. Very very good. Downloaded the VLC to watch it. When it finished it "stopped working" and froze my computer. I checked compatibility issues. It's set for Windows XP, service pack 2, which is nothing like what I have. I think I'll uninstall. Now that I see the problem, I remember having shockwave before. Worth the trouble to see that tribute though. :(

Glad you got to see it. Not ashamed to say I teared up. She was a big story here in the 'nati.
And yes, the stream seems to have problems. I had to try several things before I could get it to play. VLC should be OK regardless of your configuration. I have it on XP & Win7 with no issues. Plays way more formats than Win Media Player but YMMV.
Memorial is tonight.
