"It's an improvement over Windows 8!"
So is not having a computer.
Found out the hard way VMware's video driver on the Mac doesn't pass Microsoft's compatibility test. I ended up having to download the software and install manually instead of the Windows Update method. This was a W8 VM I wasn't actually using for anything. I don't see anything compelling in 10 to make me want to update my systems running W7.
Even when told not to, Windows 10 just can’t stop talking to Microsoft (http://arstechnica.com/information-technology/2015/08/even-when-told-not-to-windows-10-just-cant-stop-talking-to-microsoft/)
Awfully thoughtful of M$FT...
We asked Microsoft to comment on whether it was downloading Windows 10 anyway as the company rushes to build on the 75 million machines with the new OS installed in its first month, putting it in fourth place behind Window 7, 8.1 and the erstwhile XP.
Microsoft told us: "For individuals who have chosen to receive automatic updates through Windows Update, we help upgradable devices get ready for Windows 10 by downloading the files they’ll need if they decide to upgrade.

I was thinking the other day, it sure seems like this release of Windows has had the least amount of issues/complaints.

Anyone know how long the upgrade is free?

Microsoft said for 1 year since its release July 29.

Anyone have any updates?
I've updated both the home PC and my laptop.
The PC update was seamless until I realized my Verizon security software was not compatible. Not compatible in that it just outright deleted it from the computer. And it won't let me reinstall it.
I updated the laptop a couple weeks back. The laptop was very wonky and I was having lots of little issues so I figured it was time to try the update. Dare I say, the update was without a hitch, it did NOT delete my security software, and it is running like new.

What in the heck is Verizon security?
That sounds like Microsoft light fixtures. That ain't what you guys do!

More than likely a VPN shield. I had the same issues with my AOL PC/laptops. Security updates were launched after the 'I Love You' virus hit our servers. Before then, we had direct connections to our servers and the ability to 'tunnel in' behind the firewall.

I am lazy and it was easier to just click yes and add their (?) security software when I purchased the computers. This instead of shopping around for new software. The new home PC did come with a Kaspersky disc which I've pondered installing.

Remove it and install AVG and Malwarebytes. Quick install and bloody good.

So I installed it on my laptop yesterday which had 8.1 on it, which I absolutely hated. But 10 displays like 8.1 (at least as far as I can tell initially) so from that standpoint not much of an improvement. It did take me something like 4 or 5 tries to get it to install. For now I will stick with 7 on my desktop.

That plan isn't going to go over well.
That plan isn't going to go over well.
Aye. I held onto XP for 8 years for a reason. :\
