Who would have thought people would miss the days of Tony Eason or Jeff George. God, they've been so bad for so long. I'd like to say it's due to stringent academic standards for recruits, but look at Northwestern.

Sounds more like God was just delaying the pain for Kent State.
52-3 sheesh.
God was busy tending to the BYU miracle to save Kent State. :gomer: The Illini had more peeps in the stands than TTUN last year after the rain delay against Utah. Speaking of Utah, who'd they beat on Thur? :D

Losing their quarterback for the season is a miracle?
Losing their quarterback for the season is a miracle?
No, but the finish was.
Herbie's ASU prediction is looking good tonight. Not. No idea what he was smoking when he picked tOSU, LSU, ASU and Okie for the playoffs (3 of the 4 outside of the current top ten in all polls).

Then there is this wacky FPI thing from E$PN:
http://espn.go.com/college-football/statistics/teamratings
Charlie Strong is shaking up his coaching staff after Texas' 38-3 loss to Notre Dame.
Strong demoted co-offensive coordinators Shawn Watson and Joe Wickline on Tuesday and named receivers coach Jay Norvell his new playcaller.
Ouch.

Strong needs four years. Unfortunately, the microscope will be intense; nobody at UT wants to admit it's a total rebuild job. All I know for sure is that Strong's Louisville would have curb-stomped Mack's Texas the last two years they were in those places.
Some UT fans are talking about an 0-6 start. That means they would lose to Cal at home, which is totally unpossible.
Cheer up, buckaroos.

I read that JT Barrett wanted to play at Tejas, and Mack Brown didn't give him a sniff.
I read that JT Barrett wanted to play at Tejas, and Mack Brown didn't give him a sniff.
Yup. There was a Twitter exchange with one of the Buckeye beat guys that Texas focused on Swoopes and paid little attention to JT, if any. He tore his ACL as a senior, but it they were interested, they would have been after him/offered him long before that occurred.
While we're bashing Texas, they plan to charge Texas Tech band members to play at the Thxgiving Day game.
http://www.si.com/college-football/2015/09/09/texas-charges-texas-tech-band-admission
This news comes a day after Texas releases its economic impact report for Texas athletics.
http://www.texassports.com/news/2015/9/8/GEN_0908154322.aspx
Not a good week for Burnt Orange & White Longhorn.
I was a bit surprised today to see the Rainbow Warriors repeatedly trying to jam the Buckeye's "hand clap" snap count. It appeared to net them one or two false starts. I always thought that faking signals was illegal. The announcers said that they're allowed to make their own signals so maybe that was the excuse they were using.
Credit the Rainbow Warriors for wearing their '80s throwback uniforms.
'twas a great day in The Shoe for everything but football. TBDBITL + alumni TBDBITL was exceptional, Rick Derringer performing Hang On Sloopy to celebrate the 50th anniversary, the oHIo celebration athalftime, and sadness for Dr. Jon Woods passing away (yet fitting that it happened on alumni day). :( Unfortunately the team did not follow through. :irked:

Texas AD axed. That's a royal mess down there.

tOSU gots issues. The offense is dysfunctional, the OL is underperforming (Boren's snaps have been crap since game 1 this season), QB performance is suffering from the A1/A2 duo. Zeke has been a bit of a bright spot, but far from Heisman consideration worthy. The D has been very good, but appeared to be sucking wind late in the game. Only an NIU penalty on 3 & 1 inside the 5 kept them from scoring a TD to make it 20-17 in the 4th quarter.
Ohio State is No. 1 and Michigan State is No. 2 in The Associated Press Top 25, giving the Big Ten the top two teams in the rankings for the first time since 2006.

TTUN strongly disagrees. They were very impressive with their #3 ranking in '04 when they lost to hAppy State. :gomer: Please send that memo to Greeny, who was all over Twitter yesterday about NW superiority, and the Coaches Poll that has NW below $C and ahead of Stanford. The fact that people like this are allowed to vote are proof the polls are worthless.
I know the polls are worthless at this point (I am advocate of no polls until October). Based on this logic, NW should receive a #1 vote, too. I mean, shizz, NW, which defeated Stanford, which defeated then #6 U$C on the road, and Duke, which defeated then #20 GT. And U$C is ranked higher that Stanford after losing to Tree at home? And do we now discount Sparty's W over the Ugly Ducks since they were blown out at home by uTard? That W and the Tide's loss vault MSU to #2. I mean...C'mon Man!

:shakehead:(sez a voice from the way past) That's why they should have a playoff... and no four teams doesn't cut it. Somehow the NCAA thinks 65 teams is just about right for basketball and 16 is OK for DIAA football and DI hockey.
And conference championships should get automatic berths putting more emphasis on regular season conference games and traditional rivalries than short term non-conference matchups.

It's early of course. But Michigan looks great. MSU has major injury problems. Texas has growing pains that will take a couple of years to eliminate (to be clear: a couple years to make them consistent, not great). Ohio State is not worthy of #1 at all, but Mississippi made sure they stayed there.
Weird year so far.
