Latest rumor: 49ers will trade Colin Kaepernick to the Jets and sign RGIII to be the starting QB. :D
In other news...
Raiders sign 1-year lease in Oakland with options for two more, then ask the Oakland A's baseball team to help pay for a new stadium.

If they are smart, but most aren't. See Pacman Jones. :\ Then you have P. Manning who owns about half of Papa Joe's and markets well for Nationwide. Can't blame Mega...I'd get the hell out of Detroit if I had to walk....on my knees. Sanders, Spielman, Suh, etc. all bailed on the Lions. They almost make the Browns look good. :gomer: ;)

There's a big difference between 'went to a SB' and 'won a SB'. The 49ers lost because Kaepernick gave the Ravens 21 points.
No way the 2015 Broncos come back from that deficit. :p

That worked for 2015. But that formula is a rare winner. 2000 Ravens before that. 1985 Bears before that. So maybe that'll work again in 2030? There's no way the Denver defense is going to win another championship on their own this season.

If you mean very good defense wins, I'll beg to differ: Seattle 2013, Giants 2011, Giants 2007, Pittsburgh 2005, Tampa 2002, NE 2001, Baltimore 2000.
If you mean insanely good defense and virtually no offense, okay, I'll give you that.

I did mean the defense wins it alone. Those others, they were defenses that stifled very good offenses, but their team also had an offense. Although, I don't know about 2002 or 2005.
Denver loaded up in FA, have to pay for it at some point. But the championship makes it well worth it.

It was pretty obvious that every single sportscaster in town was told by high ups in the organization some time ago that they were going to kick him to the curb when they were permitted to do so. Everyone was simply reporting it as fact that he was a goner. There must have been some strategic or technical (perhaps even humane) reason they waited a few days.

Not of much solace now, but FWIW:
NFL V.P. of Officiating Dean Blandino said today that under a new interpretation of the league’s rules against hits with the crown of the helmet, hits like Shazier’s will be illegal going forward.
Specifically, the new interpretation eliminates the requirement that a defender would have to “line up” his opponent in order for a hit with the crown of the helmet to be a penalty. Starting this season, when a defender lowers his head and forcibly hits with the crown of the helmet, it will be a foul, regardless of the angle the player takes.

IMHO, .0001%. They built a spanking new stadium, and are taxing locals and travelers to pay for it (smokes and hotel taxes). The problem they have is the crap on the field and in the front office. Not to mention the craptastic field (ala Heinz Field and Levis Stadium).

1999 Browns Return to NFL with New Ownership: Al Lerner, Coach: Chris Palmer, GM: Dwight Clark
That's right, "The Catch" Dwight Clark was GM. He was GM in SF for just 1 year and as far as I can tell, he didn't do anything before SF or after the Browns in a front office.
2001 Browns hire Butch Davis to replace Chris Palmer (2 Seasons)
2002 Browns replace Dwight Clark (3 Seasons) with Butch Davis, Al Lerner dies during the season and his son Randy Lerner takes over ownership
2004 Fired Butch Davis during the season (3.5 Seasons), Interim Coach Terry Robiskie (0.5 Season)
2005 Romeo Crennel is the new coach and Phil Savage the GM
2009 Romeo Crennel (4 Seasons) is replaced with Eric Mangini and Phil Savage (4 Seasons) is replaced with George Kokinis
2010 Mike Holmgren is brought in to run the team and hires Tom Heckert to replace George Kokinis (1 Season)
2011 Eric Mangini (2 Seasons) is replaced with Pat Shurmur
2012 Jimmy Haslam buys the team from Randy Lerner, Mike Holmgren (almost 3 Seasons) is replaced with Joe Banner
2013 Pat Shurmur (2 Seasons) is replaced with Rob Chudzinski and Tom Heckert (3 Seasons) is replaced by Michael Lombardi
2014 Clean House and Replace Rob Chudzinski (1 Season) with Mike Pettine and Michael Lombardi (1 Season) is replaced by Ray Farmer
2016 Sashi Brown is hired as VP of Football Operations and Paul DePodesta is CSO, combining to replace Ray Farmer (2 Seasons) and Hue Jackson replaces Mike Pettine (2 Seasons)
Want to guess when the next entry in this list occurs?

10-6. If I'm being optimistic, it is about the Colts and Texans. That being said, if they lose to the Colts (and I'm right about games 1 and 3), they could seriously tailspin.
Still... we're champs. :)

I can't even guess about the Bingles. New OC, and loss of #2 and #3 WRs. Red Rifle will be back, but throw to who? :saywhat: :(
I'm gonna guess 9-7 for this bunch...playoffs fitty/fitty. Playoff loss 100%. I could see this bunch going 0-5 to start. Note the @s with home against the Nags D. Pat, I'd like to buy a WR. #wheeloffortune
