2017 Weathertech Series/IMSA

I reckon the people running IMSA have come up with a good formula for the future with their LMP2 & DPi (LMP2 chassis without the spec engine and some slightly different bodywork). The current line up for 2017 includes:

2x Extreme Speed Motorsport Ligier-Nissan (DPi)
2x Action Express Dallara-Cadillac (DPi)
1x Wayne Taylor Racing Dallara-Cadillac (DPi)
2x Speedsource Riley/Multimatic-Mazda (DPi)
1x Core Autosport Oreca-Gibson (LMP2)
1x JDC Miller Motorsport Oreca-Gibson (LMP2)
1x PR1 Mathiasen Motorsports Ligier-Gibson (LMP2)
1x Spirit of Dayonta *expected* Riley/Multimatic-Mazda



Plus it's known that both Starworks Motorsport & ViperExchange Racing both have Riley/Multimatic-Gibsons on order. It's also believed that Dragonspeed want to race their new Oreca-Gibson at Daytona before doing ELMS in 2017. It looks like it should be a good season. Fingers crossed Aston Martin enters a car in GTLM for the season too!

Pretty good showing for the first year of a new formula in prototype.

The same cars are expected for GTLM (2x Ford GT, 2x Corvette, 2x New Porsche 911-mid engined, 2x BMW M6GTLM, 1-2x Ferrari 488 GTE) plus 2 extra Ford GT for Daytona, 1 Porsche 911 from Proton COmpetition

The GTD(GT3) field is set to get even more crazy with 3x AMG GT, 2x Honda NSX, 2x Lexus RC-F to go with multiple Audi R8, Lamborghini Huracan, Ferrari 488, Porsche 911, BMW M6 GT3 and for at least Daytona, an Aston Martin V12 Vantage.
