A 2.4-liter, twin-turbocharged V6 engine projected to generate at least 100 hp more than the current 2.2-liter platform was announced by IndyCar president of competition and operations Jay Frye along with U.S. vice president of performance vehicles and motorsports for General Motors Jim Campbell and Honda Performance Development president Art St. Cyr.

The new package will be utilized for six years beginning in 2021 and running through 2026.

A couple years out, but Indycar is getting back to it's roots. New cars look so much better. Put in a 900 hp engine and they will be a beast.

Marshall Pruett or Robin Miller had an article on racer a fortnight or so ago that said the manufacturers and teams are basically saying the easiest way to do it is to go back to methanol. I think the easiest thing to do would be to go back to the 2.65L V8 engines. Ilmor already has a competitive one. So does Honda. And if they were ever interested so do Toyota and Cosworth (Ford).

Are they coming to the realization that racing cars at the highest levels of the sport should be a fire breathing monster, not “relevant to today’s cars” or “socially responsible” ???
