Just checked and "deaccession" is not a synonym for "bankruptcy".

Sounds like they're crossing all the I's and dotting all the T's to do in proper museumy fashion. :tony: is the Board Chair and some of the usual suspects are on the board. The Museum foundation operates as a non-profit separately from the Speedway even though it sits in on the grounds.

I'm a little cynical about this because I recently saw a piece griping about how the Rich Folk use museums as a slush fund for their automotive hobby and this fits the bill. My cynical streak suggests that with Penske bringing fiscal reality to the property that the Museum sits on they're finding it necessary to rationalize museum operations. Which means cleaning out grand-pappy's closet.
