I don't know why, but I like the looks of this.

I'm sure that it's going to be as slow as a, well, Peugeot, but I like it.

It's straight out of the Hot Wheels concept racers from days gone by.

The no rear wing thing is interesting. I mean there's no feasible reason why it shouldn't work but it's certainly different

Looks like a Forza exterior with a Minecraft interior.

When was the last time a prototype didn't have a rear wing? I suspect it was omitted as creative license.

Also, those mirrors will never work. :gomer:

I'm skeptical it's just a rendering in Blender or Cinebench and not an actual CAD Assembly (the later would represent a 'complete' design).

We'll see. It would great to see them back.

The only way it works is if there's a rules provision with active-blown diffusers for cars not running a rear wing (e.g. illegal for cars that DO have a wing).
Otherwise I don't see how the car is competitive.

Yea, not that it can't be done, but without specific BOP considerations, it won't be competative.

The Rondeau (https://www.goodwood.com/grr/columnists/andrew-frankel/2020/6/jean-rondeau-the-self-made-le-mans-conqueror--thank-frankel-its-friday/)that won LeMans in 1980 had a segregated rear wing (with end-fences extending well forward).

I loved he DelaWing, but I don't think we need to discuss its track record...

The point is yes - you can do something different just to do it, but different in-and-of-itself isn't going to win overall without other considerations.

From the sportscar365 article, it sounds as though this is very much a design in process...


Jansonnie explained that Peugeot is working out how to incorporate adjustable aero on the car’s bodywork. The team plans to try out “options” for this during its track test phase, which is due to start in December.

He also indicated that one important consideration during the Peugeot 9X8’s design period was how to manage the car’s aero balance without a conventional rear wing.

“That was actually the key thing in the decision not to use a rear wing: to find something to replace the rear wing, not in terms of overall performance but in terms of balance adjustments,” he said.

“We have a couple of ideas which we need to develop on track. That part of the development is very sensitive to track testing so that means we have some options for this on the bodywork, which would be not on the wing but on the bodywork.

I watched the video.
It looks like it runs well in iRacing.
We'll see how it does when it really hits the track.
